What is your 10 year old getting?

OP posts:
Wagsandclaws · 05/09/2022 14:37

Ds birthday is 3 weeks before Christmas and I have no idea what to get him for either Confused

Titsflyingsouth · 05/09/2022 17:17

For those people asking about cheaper versions of Oodies. We got a Snuggy oversized hoodie on Amazon for my kid last year and it is unbelievably warm. £34.99

Titsflyingsouth · 05/09/2022 17:30

DS (9 rather than 10, and ASD so niche tastes)

He hasn't asked for anything definite yet but I'm considering:

Metal detector
Swim towel and swim bag
Just Dance for PS5
Litter picker (as I said, niche tastes!)
Model trains / planes
Battery operated 'build your own' wooden elevator
Roald Dahl books

In his stocking will go:
Orangina (his favourite thing ever)
Haribo Goldbears
Shower gel
Slime or Floam
Mini Tub Pringles
And a few other bits

Is your 10 year old a boy or girl?
I'd share what mine is getting but no point in they're the opposite gender as I don't think they'd like the same things.

There's no way a boy and a girl could possibly ever like the same things.
🙄

polmnlj · 07/09/2022 14:39

Dd is ten and I don't really have any ideas apart from one Lego set. Reading your lists with great interest!

@fafallguys2 thanks for picking up on that & being contrary!
My 10 year old childs list is predominantly rainbow high dolls & reborn babies so I do suspect that only a smaller percentage of 10 year boys would be asking for identical dollies.

And anyway @fafallguys2 is that your only contribution to this post, to have a go at someone?
What are you buying YOUR 10 year old for Christmas? 🙄

Mcintosh · 07/09/2022 21:47

i am really struggling already!

so far on the list I have :

-hotwheels monster trucks live show tickets
a metal detector
some bits for his bike so some nice lights/water bottle
im taking him to New York next year so going to tell him on Xmas day so maybe a travel
book/backpack/boarding pass
some WWE stuff
some groot (sp) stuff from guardians of galaxy

and that’s it! I’m determined not to over spend or get into any kind of debt this year, precious years I have spent a fortune and yet can’t even tell you what he had last year so I’m setting a strict £150 budget.

HairyToity · 07/09/2022 22:04

No idea, she's asked for a laptop. Assuming I can persuade her out of the laptop, I'm thinking:

Gemstones
Switch games
Lego
Eye mask (specifically asked for a silk one)

elQuintoConyo · 08/09/2022 15:54

Last year for 9th birthday, DS got a metal detector - bloody fabulous! Huge hit. Also helped him make friends in a larger group of kids as he's a bit shy and awkward. We went to a cool big beach, and between detecting euros, car keys, the odd earring and one earbud, and he borrowed my phone so they could wander off and find 3 geocaches - he had a lovely day.

Sorry, bit waffly, but yes metal detector = aces

Petal7 · 08/09/2022 16:29

Lego dots message board
Uno Flip
Squishees/beanie boos
Gummy poos
Nerf Bunkr set (hideous inflatables to hide behind in nerf/laser/water fights)
Art materials
Framed picture for her room
New duvet set
Krispy Kreme voucher
PIck n mix mini sweetshop (from Tiger)
Nat Geo puzzle books

Freedom2023 · 11/09/2022 18:23

Raindancer411 · 21/09/2022 14:47

My son is really difficult this year but we are thinking computer, Lego, stuff for his "home office"...

polmnlj · 21/09/2022 17:08

Dd10 informed me today that she wishes to get sewing machine, headphones and some squishmallows. I think I can stop thinking what to get her.

Neverhot · 21/09/2022 17:42

Squishmallows, oodie, art supplies, robux, Harry Potter stuff, crystals, loom band kits, oversized hoodies, big hair scrunchies, stuff from claire's likes keyrings, chokers, earrings etc.

ADecadeAndAHalf · 21/09/2022 20:26

We've a birthday and Xmas to cover.
List so far is:

*Stunt scooter
wireless headphones
helmet
*Books, next in series
*Pokemon hoody
Harry Potter pj's

what she's asked for are * and I'll probably get her some stationery bits, bath stuff and maybe a nail varnish (too young still?) for her stocking.

Oh, can you recommend a particular metal detector @elQuintoConyo?

elQuintoConyo · 21/09/2022 21:05

It was about €50 off eBay. I'll hunt down the details tomorrow. But advice I got off others was to buy the best you could afford - I mean, they go up to £500+ but that wasn't going to happen!
My dad sent cash (we're abroad) so DS also got a small camera, cybershot type thing. Illslip it in my bag whenever we go somewhere nice, and if he's starting to look bored, he can take pics of street cats or funny signs he sees etc. He has a big imagination.

FlippertyGibberts · 21/09/2022 21:21

Thank you!
