What is happening about Christmas this year?

Are you having a do? Has it been knocked on the head completely or is there a sense that people can't be bothered?

Is this the end of work socials?

If you did anything like secret Santa or other Christmas themes things, are they still going ahead or a thing of the past?

My work are still have a Christmas party but WFH makes it easier for me to say no to attending. They're just not my sort of thing anyway. I don't think we will be doing a secret santa or anything as the team is spread across multiple offices. My old work did a Christmas quiz afternoon over zoom and that was actually really good.

The plan so far is to all go into the office one day in December (we aim to go in once every month or so) and all go out for lunch.

SallyWD · 24/08/2022 11:59

We'll still have a get together probably a meal out.

We are hybrid although I'm 95% at home. I think there will be something, we've got a team building event that im trying my hardest to get out of coming up with 300 people in a hotel so no I don't think it's the end of socials but maybe depends on industry / sector.

Last year we had a murder mystery on Teams which wasn't too bad.

We are hybrid working but I think this year we’ll be able to go back to the same things we used to pre-pandemic - team lunch and sack off the afternoon and a divisional party in an evening. We always go somewhere further from
the office for our lunch anyway and the party is also held at a venue rather than the office itself so people still have to travel there whether they’re coming from the office or home.
The past couple of years we’ve had virtual dos - quizzes, an online escape room, a chocolate tasting where they sent the chocolates to everyone’s homes.

LateSummerLobelia · 24/08/2022 12:06

Last year we had drinks via zoom.

Yawn. But better than going anywhere near the office tbh.

We have a Corporate one, date is in the diary and we'll probably have a team lunch at some point.

One of the problems with remote working is that I don't know many people in my organisation, so I only really speak with my own team.

Work2live · 24/08/2022 13:56

I work for a fully remote company with people all over the world. We haven’t heard anything about a Christmas do which I’m disappointed about.

I’m hoping there’ll at least be regional parties across some of our main ‘hubs’ but who knows.

Bigoldhag · 24/08/2022 15:20

we’ve had evening teams calls for the last two years, usually with games and quizzes. 2019 we had our quarterly face to face in early December so had a night out then, but thats no different to what we do every quarter 😂

My work are having a ' do ' it's being arranged by the younger staff and seems the sole intent is to get all the money behind the bar and get as ratted as possibly . Luckily I will make sure I have another prebooked evening out as I can think of nothing worse .
The office will be decorated and we may do a secret Santa .
