Thinking of getting one of these for DS7 this Xmas. Any top tips? Do they ever get discounted? Thanks!

Consoles bundles (console and game) often come up on Black Friday. I can't comment on amounts but if there's a new game that you're after that comes out around then eg a new Pokémon game then chances are good that it will be discounted for BF.

With console gifts, always set it up and do the registering /software updates before Christmas Day. Otherwise your son will be forced to wait before he can start playing which would put a downer on things. Each game and the hardware needs checking. The servers on Christmas Day have been very slow some years and some games have many GB of updates.

There isn't normally many discounts but sometimes bundles come up - so where a game or extra controller is thrown in.

We got one last year in October time for a xmas gift from argos. It came with Mario kart included (which is normally £40).

I also saved up my nectar points over the year and could use them at argos which took off about another £15.

Worth checking tesco too if you save Clubcard vouchers as it's another way to take money off the price.

I got two free (different years) as a deal when I upgraded my mobile 'phone. Don't think they came with any games, though.

Splatoon 3 (about to come out) is a super popular game with my upper primary school age children…

We got one to take with us on holiday (smaller than the Xbox!) and got quite a good price and extended warranty from CEX.

They're is always second hand. Ds2 pooled all his birthday money from various relatives and got a switch from cex.

Don't get the lite as it can't be used on a TV. Get the OLED version unless you get a very good deal on the non-OLED version. Don't get the older one for the sake of £30

My DS 7 has one he loves it. Used to play minecraft and splatoon a lot and the Lego Harry Potter, Jurassic world and Star Wars.
But just plays Fortnite atm. Mainly cos he has a headset and can play with and speak to his school mates - great for over school holidays. I'd recommend buying him a headset too if you're getting him one.

Mn told me to buy from tesco as they ate returned immediately if there is a problem. Proved correct

I don't know about offers- but we got one for our children last year and it has been one of the best , most used and full family presents I've ever invested in. I won't be able to afford it this year, or I think, ever again and I am so happy we got one when we did. Can't recommend it enough.

Bought one after a recommendation here when Amazon had them reduced from £300 to £240 a few weeks back. The offers do come and go.
