I dont understand what these are, could you explain as Im always interest in other peoples traditions?

We just have xmas crackers (I have recently started making my own as Im sick of giant paper clips, single tiddlyfrogs and mini notepads that never get used... last year I put ink stamps in, this year im thinking finger puppets).

I am buying a family game too to play after dinner, jenga this year as its simiple but its not a gift its just something fun for everyone to get competative over.

Yes it was strange to me but a couple of years ago my DM started putting a wrapped gift on everyone's place setting . Something small in size because there are crackers etc and the table is dressed . I feel I should reciprocate but have run out of ideas . Ideally it's something festive but I've done the bauble thing now and am looking for something else .

I have never heard of this but now I'm desperate to join in! Watching with interest.

Mini bottles of spirits for the grown ups?

Something to colour in at the table for Little's?

I tend to get something personal to each person. So for example, the last time I hosted I got some glass batman coasters for DH, a book I knew my stepmum would like, a little pocket mirror for teen younger sister etc

StressfulBedtimes · 31/07/2022 18:21

I generally do a blind bag or some kind of surprise shite for kids, a mini bottle of alcohol and/or a scratch card for adults
Ive also done personalised glass charms in the past which were lovely

nicknamehelp · 31/07/2022 18:23

I've done miniature selection packs (for adults), small trivia quiz packs or other small games (great for playing after meal)

BeaLola · 31/07/2022 18:31

I've made my own crackers (was good fun) and put mini booze in or mini aftershave /perfume.

This year I may put in a specific voucher for each person eg cinema tickets for DB & his gf - tbf apart from DS all others are adults & it's in lieu of a stocking as they don't join us til lunchtime.

Something consumable. Lottery tickets, alcohol, jam/chutney, stollen, mince pies, soap. A poinsettia?

blackgreywhite · 01/08/2022 18:39

Nothing that will end up as landfill or can easily be donated to a charity shop would be my suggestion having suffered my ex-Mils table presents (she's the only person I know in real life who thinks adults need a present as they sit down and eat the best meal of the year with their friends/family) for many a year.
Socks?

Bananaman123 · 18/08/2022 20:02

Molton brown baubles or an edible gift like hotel chocolat or hot choc bombs, not the most elegant but would go down well in our family

BeastOfBODMAS · 18/08/2022 20:04

Get a job lot of kazoos and put a playlist on after dinner for some silly carol ‘singing’

Bellyfat · 18/08/2022 22:13

Table gifts in my family have always been low value but useful gifts rather than anything extravagant. A calendar for the kitchen, some pretty nail files, a puzzle book, an inexpensive pair of earrings that are good for day to day wear.

TreacsPotNoodle · 18/08/2022 22:17

I did scratch cards last year! Good fun too as some people won small amounts.

Winterfellismyhome · 18/08/2022 22:19

I once got Christmas mugs and put a mini bottle of alcohol, a scratchcard, some chocolate and a pair of socks for the adults. The children had socks, chocolate, a sheet of stickers and a novelty pen. Went down well

Nice toiletries
Clinique minis or similar
Gift vouchers
The drink minis sound nice

Phone chargers — you can get them with multiple plugs if you don’t know what phones people have

CanaryShoulderedThorn · 21/08/2022 18:44

We bought one of those hand bell sets and play christmas carols and songs with them. Bit of fun innit.
