Hi - can’t believe I’m already thinking about Christmas but I’d love to get some gift ideas from the independent business/creators that you can recommend.
There was a great thread last year..

Events/tickets/courses:

School of Artisan Food
Kielder Observatory
Ministery of Upholstery
Huntlands Farm upholstery

Been to stuff at all of them and had a great time. Not cheap for sure. Less specifically and probably cheaper, local places doing craft courses (one near me does christmas wreaths, dried flower wreaths, terrariums, etc), cookery courses, baking courses, wine making, preserves, cheese making, blacksmithing, jewellery, pottery, lino print. The list is endless. Experiences on heritage railways, goodwood etc. Comedy tickets. Films with live orchestras. Paddle boarding/kayaking/wild swimming day.

I know this is probably not what you were thinking but it might spark some ideas for someone!

I've bought pyjamas from Their Nibs for others and been impressed.

Sous Chef has interesting foodie bits
Refound Objects has some gorgeous bits and bobs, some old and some new

I will keep thinking but obviously ebay/etsy/vinted/facebook/gumtree for second hand stuff too - books, clothes, vinyl, cds, kitchenware, blankets etc

I bought a piece of fused glass art by this lady on Etsy for my mum for a big birthday - she's incredibly difficult to buy for but the beach has been an important part of both of our lives and I thought she'd love it.

She absolutely did and I was blown away by it when it arrived. When I go to her house and nip to the loo seeing it with light glinting through it on the window ledge it's just stunning.

I'm dropping serious hints for one of my own for Christmas!

Seeing the post above, Grassholme also has an observatory in the north east (run by the person who launched the Kielder observatory). They offer gift vouchers.

Great idea. I really like those beach scenes too.
