itcameuponamidnightclayre · 25/12/2007 21:33

i got a breadmaker and some smellies

lyra41 · 25/12/2007 21:33

£20 and I'm very grateful. she's a sweetie on the whole, but it's taken me a few years to grow to love her. she used to drive me crazy as she doesn't really engage a filter on her mouth. these days i find her straightforwardness refreshing.

MuffinMclay · 25/12/2007 21:36

Bugger all because, apparently, neither I, dh, nor ds need anything.
She bought SIL a car, and BIL furniture.

We're not bitter [grin ]

sandyballs · 25/12/2007 21:41

50 quid and a calvin klein perfume gift set thingy. And ear ache from her constant nagging of the DDs today. Her posh auntie was here and she expected my 6 year olds to behave impeccably all day , which i thought they did to be honest for their age, but she obviously didn't.

canella · 25/12/2007 21:41

a really terrible scarf - looks like curtain material that i wouldn't put up in my enemy's house!
oh and some marzipan chocolate - she knows i dont like it!
suppose its better than the wrinkle reducing cream she bought me for my birthday - i'm only 33!!!

SpookyMadMummy · 25/12/2007 21:43

Oh yes Anti Wrinkle cream, my sister got me that little gem, I am 32 and without wrinkles
She on the other hand is 4 1/2 years older than me... she may need it first!

brandybutterhelsy · 25/12/2007 21:45

Tap all. And, based on years of bitter experience, I got her exactly the same Ho ho ho! Merry Christmas!

snowflowervalley · 25/12/2007 21:46

A cardi from M&S and £200

Tortington · 25/12/2007 21:48

my MIL bought me nothing
bought dh nothing
borrowed £100 and told us to just give them £70 and give a tenner each to the kids.

the fucking thoughfulness just bastard well astounds me.

i hope i NEVER turn into anyone as fucking wank as that.

i hope that if i have put thought into a present that it is taken for what it is

i hope that i become the better person in thinking about someone at xmas and not becomming fucking BITTER ( she said bitterly)

MERRY XMAS

among other things - 2 pairs of slightly saucy knickers. Think she's hoping for another grandchild but actually her image popping into mine and dp's heads the second i drop my trousers would probably have the opposite effect.

brandybutterhelsy · 25/12/2007 21:50

Don't hold back, Custardo, say what you mean!
We may share a MIL. I've not bothered since she failed to buy my children even a card, pleading poverty "waiting for Giro" whilst three large remote control cars were "hidden" behind her sofa to be given to her other grandchildren.

imdreamingofawhiteKITTYmas · 25/12/2007 21:51

£50 deposited into my bank account about 3 weeks ago and I don't know what else as we won't be seeing her until the 27th.

Blandmum · 25/12/2007 21:55

Mine bought us (dh and me) and beautiful painting, which is already on the wall.

Lovely.

She gets the kids 'token' gifts and puts money in their bank accounts.

She is a gem.

DanJARMouse · 25/12/2007 21:58

shitty IMPULSE spray and shower gel - FFS Im 25yo and the mother of 3 of her grandkids, not a 12yo pre-teen!

Got DH a book signed by the author including "to xxxxx" so a lot more thought went into that one, especially as MIL used her contacts to get the PA of the author onside to do it.

Presents for the girls this year were a lot better thought out though so thats a bonus.

FairyTaleOfNewYork · 25/12/2007 22:01

books, necklace, molton brown toiletries (i get them every year and i lvoe them!), socks, loads of stuff!

no chocs though as she knows i am dieting

janeite · 25/12/2007 22:34

A cheque for me and the dds to share. I bought boots in the Clarks sale with my share and the dds are hoarding their part to spend over the holidays. VERY much appreciated indeed (and dp couldn't moan about me buying more boots, 'cos his MUM had bought them!!!).

ladyGrinchingsoul · 25/12/2007 22:53

A really nice cashmere jumper.
