What do you have for the starter?

Need something light, as we are desert eaters more

Was thinking of melon, but not so sure now.

There's so much food that we don't bother with a starter. Straight to the turkey.

tomato and mozzarella salad. Festive colours if you garnish with basil leaves.

I always have prawn cocktail (((love it with a passion))) but you could always have melon, I think you slice it and arrange in a fan shape with a strawberry in the middle?
Sorry not very good with starters other than the beloved prawn cocktail hmmmmmmm

I am doing champagne and canapes instead of starter this year.

MrsMuddle · 21/12/2007 23:59

Canapes for me too. Home made chicken liver pate and red onion marmalade on mini oatcakes, and smoked salmon with creme fraiche and dill on blinis. Easy and delicious.

We decided not to do one this year. We will eat a late breakfast instead (smoked salmon scrambled eggs - was going to do christmas croissants then have the salmon for lunch but decided I would explode before I got to eat the main meal). So brekkers at about 9 or 10ish, then christmas dinner midafternoonish then pudding in the evening.

Fresh air - they're lucky to get the turkey and pud!

Nemostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 22/12/2007 09:47

MIL and I are having melon
DH and FIL will have pate and toast
DC will have some fruit.

Alibobster · 22/12/2007 16:34

Smoked salmon and prawn parcels mmmmmm!

BeeWiseMen · 22/12/2007 16:42

melon and parma ham - my sister always insists on prawn cocktail or christmas is utterly ruined.
