Fantasy Christmas list - I'll start

You know how blokes do fantasy football? Here's fantasy Christmas:

Presents haven't really happened for us for a long time. And less and less with the extended family. It kinda ... Faded.

OH and I just do a shared thing we can enjoy together, which is nice. Experiences. Nothing to dust. You know.

Money has made its absence felt.

But watching the ads, the magazine article all the over the top stuff got me thinking about twinkly sparkly parcels and bows and everything in drifts under a huge tree.

So ... As midnight comes on Christmas Eve, what would you love to discover under the tree if you could?

My list:

A bottle of Chanel Number 5
A pile of the most beautiful, fascinating hardback books of the year
Diamond earrings
A bottle of Kraken rum
Lots of scented candles
A web cam
A holiday at a gorgeous English country hotel
Some boots

That's my fantasy list, what's yours?

Agree OP! These things we want are rarely completely out of reach (even if over a few Christmases) - and I really do want that pink sofa. I will start dropping hints now!

I'd like my husband to skip the Brussel sprouts next year so I don't have to gag at his farts all day and night.
I'd also like:
Chantecaille makeup
Lego Ninjago City Gardens
L'inderdit EDP, solid perfume and shower oil
Folio Society Fairy Book (any colour)
Sci-Fi book
Short story book

*L'interdit

Grrr autocorrect

Ooh this could be fun. My fantasy list, just for me.

I'll have a new (bigger) house please, complete with baby grand piano (naturally).
A new phone (one without a cracked screen as my current one has, due to a kitchen mishap).
Vouchers for electrolysis
Weekend away with DH (and childcare sorted)
A clean oven - ours is awful and needs attacking tomorrow (although I guess with a new house a sparkling oven would come as standard). 🤣
A lie-in. 🤣🤣🤣 (That's about as likely as the new house.)
A magic laundry fairy.
Magic weight-loss and non-flabby thighs.
A chance to read some of my new books (my actual Christmas presents) without being pestered by DC every other sentence.
Not to have a cold/possible covid (awaiting LFTs) and to be able to see my DM this Christmas.
The DC to play quietly cos Mummy has a headache.

  • an antique regard ring
  • antique fine jewellery
  • an Art Deco diamond studded cocktail watch.
  • a bottle of don perignon
  • Brad Pitt from 1996
  • silk pyjamas
  • Elemis skin care stuff

Ooh, I would have like:

  • time, energy and focus to go the gym / circuit training a couple of time a week with my own personal trainer. - I already run but struggle fit anything else.
  • rounds and rounds electrolysis - I fear that menopause will not be kind.
  • time and energy when the children aren’t about to give the house a huge tidy.

I want a kitchen aid stand mixer and to gain citizenship in this country.

Both things are maybe possible in the future, but right now I'd have to sell me organs to have any hope of affording them.

A long weekend at the Three Chimneys with my husband (while a beloved grandparent looks after our son)

A very large bottle of Jo Malone Peony and Blush Suede

A huge toblerone

Black louboutins

A LV never full

A dachshund puppy

Ten of the Independent’s best novels of the year

All the kids go to bed early and sleep in late. Can that be a thing?

user1471443411 · 27/12/2021 20:13

Keeping mine semi-realistic:
A night away in a fancy hotel.
An amethyst ring.
Good quality socks.
Duffel coat (I would have to choose it and try it on though).
Big box full of Lush bath bombs.
Fluffy birkenstocks.
Large candle, White company type quality.
Almond oil from loccitane.
Hypnotic poison.

BerthaBlythe · 28/12/2021 12:10

That someone would have slipped away with my car on Christmas Eve and returned it waxed, polished and valeted.

Diamond tennis bracelet.

Gorgeously flattering cashmere jumper that I didn’t have to shop for. Ditto flattering jeans.

My favourite boots looking brand new again but broken in to perfection

My favourite, but no longer available clothes.

A couple of nights away, and a team of cleaners booked for that time.

A new sofa.

Silk pjs

Gorgeous bed linen

A magical remote control that could pause time, so I could enjoy a few moments if peace and quiet by myself knowing that everyone is perfectly ok for a few minutes. No worries. No phone calls or texts. Just perfect peace.
