We watched this last night, and it was enjoyed by our eldest (17), down to our youngest (7), plus myself and my husband had a giggle too.

Are there any other films we could watch over the Christmas period that aren't wildly inappropriate (but still fun) for that broader age bracket? Ideally Christmas, but just any others.

We have all enjoyed Home Alone, The Christmas Chronicles (eldest less so), Klaus and also The Princess Bride (not Christmas but great). We've already watched all of Studio Ghibli films and we all loved those.

We avoid ones that have swearing (or more than the odd crap/ ass etc).

We have Netflix, Prime and Disney+

Thank you- and hope you all have a good Christmas.

Get Santa on Prime should work for all of you.

National lampoons is my favourite

TeaSoakedDisasterMagnet · 24/12/2021 09:40

Christmas with the Kranks is similar and I always enjoy that one

BunsyGirl · 24/12/2021 09:41

Nativity!

AnnaSW1 · 24/12/2021 09:44

I agree Christmas with the Kranks has a similar feel. It's fantastic

senorafridgidaire · 24/12/2021 09:45

Chrstmas with the Kranks, and Krampus

CMF1318 · 24/12/2021 09:46

National lampoons Christmas vacation is similar humour and age range bracket to deck the halls

Methenyouplus4 · 24/12/2021 09:47

Brilliant, thank you everyone. We'll probably watch most of those suggested over the next few days (not Nativity, but simply because we've already watched it).

Thank you for saving me ages searching IMDB!

Jingle All the Way is a lot of fun and has a similar kind of feel.

senorafridgidaire · 24/12/2021 09:59

Daddy's Home 2 is a good one as well

Mooserp · 24/12/2021 10:02

Elf

TeacherMa · 24/12/2021 10:07

Click and Collect on Netflix is brilliant.

Similar to Jingle All the Way.

Also love a bit of Gremlins and Krampus (2015) on Xmas eve but appreciate might be a tad scary for younger ones. It's more of a 'muppets monster' type scary imo but very young or sensitive viewers may be terrified. Xmas Grin

Are there any Krampus films that are a 12?

sohypnotic · 24/12/2021 10:45

Another vote for Christmas with the kranks, and of course, Elf. Fred Claus is also great.

The 2015 one with Toni Collete - which we watch every year - is a 15. I'm not aware of any others that are 12. My daughter has been watching this one from the age of 11 though as I'd watched it first and felt it was okay. It's a comedy horror. Some swearing. No gore. No sex. In a very similar vein to Gremlins. I would recommend it for 12+. It's rated PG 13 in America.
