No main present still

I know it's a bit late now but...My DH has bought me hotel chocolate chocs to open as requested and apparently a small surprise but it's not main present worthy apparently! We were going to buy something I've wanted for ages but without going into details I've decided to have it for my birthday later next year if its still "needed".

We usually spend £100 roughly on main presents to each other...he keeps asking me and I don't really know!

Can you give me inspiration at this late stage?! Maybe there's something I've forgotten about...

I'm not really bothered this year tbh!

If you can't think of anything you want whats the point of thinking of something just so you have a "main" present. Just wait until you actually want/need something.

NoIdeaWhatIWantAtAll · 23/12/2021 20:25

@Hellocatshome yeah that's what I keep saying to DH but thought I'd do one last "thinking" via mumsnet before giving up 😂

A night away somewhere?

Hellocatshome · 23/12/2021 20:28

@NoIdeaWhatIWantAtAll if he is insistent I would just ask for the cash Grin

Floralnomad · 23/12/2021 20:28

This is the exact reason that my husband and I don’t buy for each other , there is never anything I want , and I I do want something I generally buy it then not wait until Christmas / birthday .

SadSongsAndWaltzes · 23/12/2021 20:29

Yes, how about an "experience" present rather than a thing? A voucher for an expensive restaurant you want to try, or a chocolate making class/ Spa day, etc?

SalsaLove · 23/12/2021 20:29

I hate the whole “main present” thing. If you’re not bothered then don’t force it, and just enjoy the day together.

MissyB1 · 23/12/2021 20:31

Perfume?
New coat?
Any gadgets you want?

FortunesFave · 23/12/2021 20:37

I always choose jewelry because I like it and it's not something you just buy for yourself regularly...or perfume.

NoIdeaWhatIWantAtAll · 23/12/2021 20:41

@SalsaLove
just enjoy the day together.

Yes, this is what I've said. As long as I've got him, our LO and chocolate I'm happy.

I'm bit too attached to my LO for any experience stuff, only had her this year.

I think it'll be another "IOU" like my birthday this year was 😂

Credit note for clothes in the January sales?

Gretaburley · 23/12/2021 21:04

I'm pretty sure dh has bought me a new purse which is just what I wanted.

CrimbleCrumble1 · 23/12/2021 21:09

Gift voucher for your favourite shop.

PizzasPlease · 23/12/2021 21:15

A luxurious throw to cuddle up in and feel indulgent whilst eating your Hotel Chocolat.

sunlovingcriminal · 23/12/2021 21:17

A cooking class
Theatre tickets
A new coat
Great pair of boots
Three months cheese subscription?!!

(These are all things I'd love!)

BeyondMyWits · 23/12/2021 21:20

Molton Brown here, Dh knows the ones I like and will get me a "layer up" set... shower gel, lotion and scent, costs enough for him to be happy it is a main present and all gets used every time, so no "stuff" to find a space for.

Holbrook9 · 23/12/2021 21:23

Massage and nice meal somewhere

CountTessa · 23/12/2021 21:26

Why not go out for a nice meal or a show instead of having a present. Or get a tree planted in a place you like going to?

WonderfulYou · 23/12/2021 21:47

I completely agree.
Don’t buy just for the sake of having something to open.

Have an I.O.Y and use it for when you think of something in the new year.

WonderfulYou · 23/12/2021 21:48

Mine would be a massage /spa day.

leccybill · 23/12/2021 21:55

Kindle? Nice dress coat? Perfume?
