Forgotten my own stocking rules!

Last year I was in the throes of sleep deprivation with a newborn baby. I simply cannot remember what we did with the stocking for DS (now 7)! Was it from us or Santa? Did I wrap the presents inside? I just don't know what to do this year, and I don't want to ruin the magic by doing the total opposite of last year and making DS question it all (and he would, he's got an immaculate memory 🙄)

My mum thinks we don't wrap stocking pressies. DH thinks I should.

What do I doooooo?

(I know no-one can actually answer this, btw!)

Can you ask DS how he remembers it from last year?

ShirleyPhallus · 23/12/2021 19:43

Just ask DS?

He won't remember. Mix of wrapped and unwrapped here, different paper from the stuff we use for his presents from us. Or use tissue

Do you have any photos from the morning or the year before you could look through?
If not, I’d wrap stocking presents from Santa, but definitely in a paper he hasn’t seen before. Ideally tissue paper or newspaper or something, so it’s completely different to what you wrap in.

I can ask but was hoping not to pass my overthinking onto him! I happen to have a roll of paper that hasn't been used for anything else so I think I'll use it and make some kind of comment over covid supply issues if he says it was not wrapped last year...? 😬

God the last minute Christmas anxiety is a blast eh!

I think we overthink this stuff as parents. Your son will just be excited regardless.
Can you remember how it was done when you were a kid? Chances are you did it that way instinctively.

I do a mix of wrapped and not wrapped. I don't wrap sweets but wrap the rest.

Bunce1 · 23/12/2021 23:58

We wrap.

Adds to excitement and buys a little more time.

I used to wrap when DS was little, it kept him quiet for 5 more minutes while I napped - lots and lots of tape Grin
