Why does my central heating have this tendency to break down for Christmas!!!!

I am so mad. Central heating boiler died last night and the bugger is only two years old.

It replaced our old boiler which was known as Jezebel, such was its perfidy. It broke down every winter without fail, once on Christmas Day afternoon .

And now the fecking replacement is doing the same thing!

What have I done to deserve this!!!!

And my poor kids - weather forecast suggests it could get down as low as -3 in London overnight tonight...

We are now in the position where it is warmer outside than in the house. No sign of anyone yet. DS3 has dealt with it by spending the entire day outside, in his fleece and wellies. We made mincepies this morning, which at least warmed up the kitchen a bit. Am going to light a fire in the sitting room shortly.

Yes, thanks be to God, we do at least have hot water. Although last night DS3 decided to run the hot taps for while just for fun, leaving all of two inches of hot water for DS1's bath. He was very unamused . He also left a fan heater pushed right up against a door and the paintwork is all blistered .

We are quite enjoying it, in a Dunkirk spirit sort of way.

Kerry, hope yours is holding out!

Same reason my cooker has (2 years in a row). I'm sure the repair man fixes it so it only lasts a year and then breaks again!

We got it fixed - hoorah!

The repair man did a huge dump in our loo before he started work, though .

Oddly, having not really felt cold all day, I was freezing all yesterday evening even though we had the newly-repaired heating on at full blast!

Anyway, hope everyone else has a warm Xmas!

We had an extension built about 5 years ago and one day one of the brickies did a dump in our loo that I swear was a foot long and left it there! It was so solid it wouldn't flush away so in the end I straightened out a wire coat hanger and chopped it up! [gag emoticon]
