Fairy light help please!

I bought some old fashioned non-LED fairy lights for the tree and they have stopped working apart from the special bulb that's different to all the others and is now super bright. Does anyone know what I need to do please to try and fix them? Google is no help sadly.

I have eleventy million decorations on the tree and I'll cry if I have to take them all off to put new lights on!

If one bulb goes they all do! Try tightening them all first though

It may be easier just to sling on a new set of lights on top of what you have on the tree, and just use those. Not worth faffing this close to Christmas. but then, I am a lazy slattern

Try tightening them all. The one that's different is the fuse bulb iirc. Did you get any spare in your pack? Generally when one incandescent blows they all go out.

Thanks all - I managed to find the box with the instructions this morning and it told me to change the fuse bulb, so once I managed to find that and change it, they are working! The fuse bulb I thought was shining oh so brightly last night was actually on a different set of lights!

I'd forgotten that fairy light failure used to be a big part of Christmas in the 70s and 80s!
