A thread for random Christmas prep support.

We have decadent ice cream sundaes for Christmas Day pudding.

I need a really good hot chocolate sauce recipe.

Every year I use the Guardian "perfect" chocolate sauce recipe as I forget it's rubbish and doesn't work for me. Not this year!!!! Any recommendations please?

We use this salted caramel sauce recipe and it's delicious- www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/wordofmouth/2015/jan/29/how-to-make-perfect-salted-caramel-sauce

We also want eggs benedict for breakfast & I've never made hollandaise sauce before.

Any fail safe recipes and tips out there?

Oh that looks lush - I’m so bloody hungry (but don’t want lunch until DS has his nap so i don’t have to share 😂). Does anyone have any good roast potatoes recipe? (Or advice, i am absolutely clueless)

I'm supposed to be cleaning carpets today, but I'm scrolling through here instead 😬

I'm going to make cranberry sauce later, and sort the fridge out so I can fit everything in

Roast potatoes require:

Pre boiling
Hot fat
And Maris piper always work
They take a good hour at 190 fan

Delia says after you have par boiled the potatoes & drained them, put the lid on the pot & shake it round a bit to rough them up before adding to the hot fat.

Delia is wise.

Does everyone do a Christmas deep clean? Or did I grow up in a strange house?Xmas Grin

I currently have a list of things to do pre-christmas around the house .

I did a couple of bits this weekend:
Sorted out both the DC drawers and took out any clothes that didn't fit.
Mostly sorted through my wardrobe.
Took out all the kids toys downstairs and threw away any broken/unusable toys.

Fun tip - my dc are 4 and 3 and loved it.
Fill a plastic container up with fairy liquid and warm water on top of a large towel hand them both a sponge and make it into a toy wash activity! They loved it! (and left me alone while I sorted!) I enlisted my DH to help with the drying of said toys! x

I do a big Christmas deep clean, and then my new year's resolution is to keep on top of it so I never have to do another one .... and here we are again !!!

In fairness to myself, even though it's all gotten away from me a bit recently it's not too bad and isn't taking that long, I'm just very busy with work and haven't been well.

@JackieWeaversZoomAc I make a very indulgent sauce using melted Mars bars and double cream. No recipe needed, just melt and stir in the cream until it’s the thickness you’d like.
