So, ive attempted my first christmas cake. So far so good. Hoping it tastes good .
Just want to ask, once you coat with jam how long do you let it sit for. Then once marzipan on how long do you let it sit for before icing?

I put the marzipan on straight after the jam, then leave a day or two before icing. Good luck, bet it will taste great!

I do it all at once. Cake then apricot jam (microwaved to make it runny). Then marzipan. Then painted with water/vodka to make ready roll icing stick. Then I ice straight away.

Enjoy! I love Christmas cake.

Yes, marzipan straight on then when you're ready for icing really. I put marzipan on mine yesterday & will probably ice it on Wednesday. I also made one for a friends family & put the marzipan on yesterday morning & did the icing last night.

If you use yellow marzipan and then ice straight away you run the risk of yellow snow 😁 if you use the white stuff then it's no problem.
