I am really struggling for ideas. She doesn't want 'stuff' as her house is full. She's mid 70s, quite fit, likes walking, gardening, reading, classical music.....
She's already a member of National Trust, English Heritage and RHS. Lives in NW so London based ideas no good. I'm in SW so tricky to do days out but could do.
I was thinking maybe Willoughby Book Club subscription? She also likes gin but doesn't drink alone so not sure gin subscription box would be a good idea (I'd like one though!).
What am I missing? Any ideas welcome.

I've bought my mum a doormat and an alpaca wool bird 'feeder' nesting thing. Nothing particularly glamorous I'm afraid. The best gift I've bought her recently has been a beautiful SHO bottle for taking tea on her dog walks. Her and her husband absolutely love them.
My grandma who is 73 I've got the Planet Earth 2 book, a handbag and a jigsaw.

FrenchyQ · 15/12/2021 20:32

I've bought mine a really nice pair of pyjamas, she never treats herself to anything nice.

Welshgal85 · 15/12/2021 20:38

I’ve bought mine some Bath and Shower oils from Aromatherapy Associates, some crafting stuff she wants and some pyjamas

dustandfluf · 15/12/2021 20:42

Mum early 70's -it's of lovely Liz Earle stuff, some poetry books and a little handmade fused glass bee hive hanging from a lovely lady I found on Etsy.

MeridasMum · 15/12/2021 20:43

Cashmere sweater from M&S

Botsicle · 15/12/2021 20:44

Got mine a jumper (that I already have, and if I didn't buy her, she'd steal), a gardening book, molton brown hand wash and her favourite chocolate. She's my easiest person to buy for!

nancybotwinbloom · 15/12/2021 20:46

Naice jamas and dressing gown. Making her some flowers and chocolates. It's what she asked for.

Late sixties, quite active but loves her "indoor" clothes.

Cuwins · 15/12/2021 20:47

My mum is a bit younger (early 60's). I have got her a marks jumper with a cute dog on the front- listed as a Xmas jumper but I don't think it's Christmassy and nor did my partner and sister. She said she needed a new jumper and she loves dogs.
Also some hotel chocolate- chocolate covered mango which she was eyeing in the shop.

I'm struggling with my DM too, think I'm going to get her books. I did buy her the M&S advent calendar but then realised I couldn't get it to her as she lives abroad so will keep it due when she's able to visit, hopefully next year.

If she's into classical music, what about some tickets to a concert or something like that?

AugustMummyxo · 15/12/2021 20:53

Tickets for the Mamma Mia musical

HappySonHappyMum · 15/12/2021 20:54

I have bought my Mum a new Breville Hot Cup - the one she has is on the way out and as a tea lover with arthritic hands its so much safer - she loves it, a new pair of her favourite slippers and some gluten free chocolate. Last year I bought her a wildlife camera for her garden which detects movement and records. She loves watching the animals that visit her garden overnight - and still uses it. My DM is 76.

The National Trust do some lovely books if you search Amazon, including cookery books if that's something your mum might like.

Nice scarf, socks, gloves suitable for walking.

My mum is Mrs Practical and is getting new scissors, a folding step and bags for life.

LaBelleSausage · 15/12/2021 22:02

Pyjamas here as well. She's 5ft11 so needs an inside leg of 36" and you can't get them easily!

Some mini gins.
Dark chocolate brazils.
Homemade bookmark from the kids.

And money towards a large and expensive mirror they want for their newly decorated dining room.

My MIL (80s):
A new kettle (she asked for this as wants a lighter one)
Trousers
Nice tin of biscuits
Nice bubble bath
