What are you all buying your DH's for Christmas this year?

My DH so far has a book and a pack of candied bacon! I am so stuck.

OP posts:
MyOtherProfile · 15/12/2021 11:50

An online cookery lesson for a cuisine that he loves.

OnAWinterMorningFarAway · 15/12/2021 12:04

DP has announced he wants nothing. He says this every year.

I'm thinking about buying us a joint present we can use together, although traditionally these in the past have been the 'kiss of death' - e.g. tickets for event, then venue shuts; train tickets to London, fire on the line; funky shirt to wear to party, party cancelled.

I'm currently thinking of binoculars (for star gazing and bird watching) and pondering what can go wrong. Probably interstellar war with aliens that carry bird flu leaving nothing left to see.

santasmuma · 15/12/2021 12:05

Journal 29 so far - I'm really struggling too this year

NalPolishRemover · 15/12/2021 12:13

It very much depends on budgets.
Over the years I have bought dh:
Ooni Pizza oven with the paraphanlia to use it
Telescope
subscription to new scientist (his fav magazine)
A coffee machine & coffee grinder
A bike (years ago & he's still using it!!)
Clothes
His fav aftershave with shower gel/ soap ordered online as not available here
A leather laptop bag from Italy
Single malt whisky
Books
A trip away

peboh · 15/12/2021 12:15

A customised Xbox controller, and a couple of games. I'll also grab him some new pjs, a dressing gown and chocolate bits.

Mrsfussypants1 · 15/12/2021 12:36

I've bought DH after much humming and harring, and golf tickets that fell through the following:

*A minimalist golf print (etsy) frame (ikea)

  • dozen titelst golf balls *galvin green winter golf beanie
  • Hotel chocolat chocs
  • Next fleece loungewear zip up hoodie
  • Next joggers *Next t shirts x2
  • Next sheepskin slippers ( he got his uggs covered in paint so I was hesitant to buy another pricey pair but these are an excellent dupe) *golf christmas shirt *tin of m&s pistachios

I find him hard to buy for but anything to do with his hobby is a winner, though I've pretty much exhausted all golf avenues now. He no longer bothers with aftershave either, that was another go to, as is a Hugo Boss jumper, but they all seem a bit logo crazy which he isn't a fan off I went down the loungewear route as he doesn't buy it himself and he'll look a bit smarter if we get unexpected guests over the holidays.

Lou98 · 15/12/2021 12:48

My DP kept going on about a leather jacket he wanted from Next so I got him that, aftershave, some beard stuff and chocolate.

From our son I got him a personalised book

Phyllis321 · 15/12/2021 12:49

DH is getting a super sharp chef’s knife (Japanese), two books and a beard grooming kit from Gruum (who have good Christmas offers at the moment).

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 15/12/2021 12:52

BigMamaFratelli · 15/12/2021 12:56

I've bought DP:
A hot water bottle (he's always stealing mine!)
Band t-shirt
Cook book
Music auto biography
Personalised wooden spoon
Bowie jigsaw puzzle
Raccoon tree decoration (it's an in joke)
A jumper

CovidPassQuestion · 15/12/2021 12:57

I'm holding out for that interstellar war with aliens so I won't have to get anything! More environmentally friendly...erm Grin

Candied bacon sounds good though- where's that from @sparklemagicsnow?

GingerAndTheBiscuits · 15/12/2021 13:04

crime scene investigation experience
Socks, pjs, new pants
Ear plugs (so he stops moaning about my snoring)
Waterproof gloves
Nice coffee for the press

We’re not supposed to be doing presents, just stocking things

Need to get him some kind of (veggie) snacks if anyone has some inspired ideas

Squiblet · 15/12/2021 13:07

Candied bacon is a thing?!

Last year I got DP a Theragun. It vibrates your muscles and stops them from getting tight/sore after exercise. Good for guys who overdo it at the gym.

SnekkinOnDown · 15/12/2021 13:25

I've got my DH quite a bit this year, I start early and had forgotten most of it and so have gone overboard.

A pair of work shoes
Pair of casual shoes
Tea pot
First flush Darjeeling tea
Kindle
Beatles sock gift set
A few fact/trivia books
Axe throwing kit
Manicure kit
Ps5 and a few games
Band t shirts

FrenchyQ · 15/12/2021 13:36

His main present is a custom built airbrush for painting his war hammer models but that isn't being delivered until January.
So he will only have a couple of presents on the day.
A oyster mushroom grow kit and a book.

Theywalkamongstus · 15/12/2021 13:49

I did that for my OHs birthday and it was absolutely brilliant.
TheHungriestMama · 15/12/2021 14:01

New shaver, an outfit, maybe some trainers.

Rememberallball · 15/12/2021 14:14

Very boring & pea rival presents here
Slippers
Jumper
Shirt
Socks & pants (from twins)
Alcohol (couple of cocktails in pouches that go in freezer)
Toiletries
Whiskey & engraved glass
Multi tool gadget thing

DowntonCrabby · 15/12/2021 14:19

A bottle of whisky, something a bit fancier than what he’d usually buy.

A jumper.
New good trousers as I’m fed up having to keep sewing the crotch seam of his old ones.

Probably some snacky things a pub tray of scampi fries that I’ll end up scoffing more of before he has a chance

DowntonCrabby · 15/12/2021 14:19

*golf trousers

sparklemagicsnow · 15/12/2021 15:04

Candied bacon is indeed a thing! From here: https://www.can-d.co.uk They do smoked salmon too (not sure how nice that would be!)

Some good ideas here, thanks! Men are so hard to buy for. My youngest (3) wants to buy Daddy a tin of baked beans so the children aren't much help! Grin

I am hanging on every word of this thread and have just bought some candied bacon for dh. I have no inspiration at all this year and we are both so old we have everything, or we are so fussy we want to buy it ourselves.

Rememberallball · 15/12/2021 20:25

If that’s what the 3 year old wants to give Daddy, I’d be buying g a 4 pack!!
longtompot · 16/12/2021 22:20

He has a merch T-shirt from a blog he follows, some heavy duty waterproof walking boots, a 12 volt tyre inflator so we don't need to get the extension lead out every time we have a flat and am considering getting him a bottle of whisky. Exciting things, I know, but they are things he needs, and he won't take them how I would if I were bought something useful as a present (apart from the T-shirt and whisky which he will love).
I will see if I can get some tins of smoked oysters and do what we did one year and get the kids to wrap them in interesting ways. He had 4 tins of the things.

ilovepixie · 16/12/2021 22:56

I've got him
Aftershave
Phone holder
Jumper
Kevin bridges tickets and overnight hotel stay

We aren't supposed to be doing presents this year lol
