Can anyone help with crystals?

My little cousin has developed an interest in crystals and has asked for a Christmas present in that vein this year (I asked her for some inspiration as I was struggling, she would never straight out ask), but I am completely clueless, is there such a thing as a beginner set or sets that come with explanations of what the different crystals are for etc? It's not my sort of thing but happy to spend up to £25. Thanks so much to anyone who can help 🤞

Do you mean the kind you grow yourselves, or Swarovski-style fake diamonds or semi precious stone collecting?

Jackieweaverishere · 14/12/2021 18:02

I was going to ask the same question! I'm looking for amethyst.

A book? Plenty around on what crystals do and how they “work” if you subscribe to those ideas.

If it’s more the geology side I’m sure I’ve seen kids kits with a little rock hammer etc…

There is a really good book by Judy Hall. It is in three parts but you can just get the first section. I would get some selenite to put the crystals on and to recharge them. You can then choose some crystals and tailor make them to her. For example you can get them for courage or confidence or positivity.
Do you have a crystal shop near you? If so go and choose a few. My 13 year old is obsessed so we have a big collection!

You need this site:

www.thepsychictree.co.uk/

My daughter is into them (it's a thing at the moment).

The crystal packs www.thepsychictree.co.uk/collections/crystal-packs are a good place to start.

If she's anything like my daughter, it will be quantity over quality so go for a larger number of cheaper ones than a smaller number of expensive ones.

Ive just bought my dd her birth sign crystals in a box for around £20 off Amazon.

Thank you all so much, I'm sorry I totally forgot to say it's the semi-precious collecting type.

Lots of the ideas look great, going to have a look though and get something ordered tonight, particularly like the idea of making her a little set with a book, the selenite for charging and her birthstone set.

You lot are fab, thank you!!

National Trust shops sell them - lots of individual gems, polished or rough. I used to buy them for DC. Each one is inexpensive, so you could get her a selection of them and maybe a little display tray too.

And promise her a trip to the Natural History museum. They have the most incredible gem room. DC spent hours in there identifying them so happily with a lovely curator who was delighted to meet children who were interested in gems.

A chakra set would be a good starting point.

Etsy have some great bracelets etc. there is also a website called ‘holistic Shop’. The Etsy shop I used was Soul Cafe Connect and I think they are on Amazon too.

Amethyst, rose quartz and clear quartz are good crystals to start with, and second a previous poster who recommended books by Judy Hall. If you have any local spiritual or 'witchy shops local to you, they usually sell crystals

mintbiscuit · 15/12/2021 17:21

As previous posters have said some selenite or clear quartz for recharging. I found chakra sets a good starting point to build up my collection but also chose crystals that I was attracted to. Pyrite being one of my favourites along with malachite. I also like Tigers Eye for confidence and anxiety.

If there is a local new age shop, visit the place in order to take a look.
