We've done this in the past and had:
Crisps
Dips
Cheese
Salad
Crudités
Breadsticks
Homemade pizza (takes about 30 mins to prep and cook from scratch using Sainsbury's quick pizza base recipe)
Homemade red onion, thyme and sausage rolls

Baked Camembert with crusty bread to dip
The little party nibbles you put in the oven for ten mins
Homemade sausage rolls - ready rolled puff pastry and sausage meat

Party food
Cheese
Meats
Bread and crackers
Pizza
I might also do a vat of chilli or Bolognese. Any that's not eaten will freeze.

Smoked salmon blinis. Can't beat a salmon blini!

ButterfliesAndDaffodils · 14/12/2021 07:56

Paté. I only eat it once a year and it's my favourite Christmas food. Really good paté with some decent wheat crackers and digestive biscuits to spread it on.

ButterfliesAndDaffodils · 14/12/2021 07:58

Ooh, and yes to the smoked salmon blinis. With cream cheese on chives. Or if not blinis, proper dark rye bread cut into little squares. Heaven.

JohnDoe2021 · 14/12/2021 12:45

Wow! Thank you! Quite a list and i cant believe Ive forgotten some obvious ones like Pate and crusty bread!

Oh yes cure meat as well.

Thank you x

I do this kind of thing on Christmas Eve and Boxing Day and actually go a lot simpler to make life easier. I do a huge baked ham (Costs £20-25 from supermarket) glazed with marmalade and then served with a big cheese board, coleslaw, French stick, grapes, sausage rolls and a big bowl of green dressed salad. I then do trays of warm mince pies for later on served with a bowl of very thick double cream. Serves up to about 20 people depending on size of ham and actually is very affordable and minimal effort.
