What do you do to make it extra special?

I think I’ve sorted my menu (with much help from Pinterest to make it extra Christmassy) Any extras or ideas for anything a bit different are very welcome.

Tulipomania is being sensible. You can be sensible and fun.

Thank you black sheep. In fact I had a very fun time at a party with several hundred people on Saturday night where those rules were in place.

Glad to hear. Hope you're well for Christmas?

Fingers crossed Blacksheep. Had a negative LFT this morning.
@myanacondamight can I ask do you have two tables then in separate rooms for drinks? I was thinking about doing this but wondered if people wouldn't realise about the cocktail table and leave it all!!
Yes, but this is in the context of a narrow terraced house and lots of people - so trying to avoid a bottleneck of people all in the kitchen. I take their coats on arrival, ask if I can get them a cocktail/mocktail or if they’d prefer wine/beer, then take them to their preferred drinks station and let them know the other is in the kitchen (or dining room).

Same idea for food - I might have cheese and charcuterie boards with crackers on one table - and then something else elsewhere - so nobody is stuck at one end of the house without food and drink nearby.

We’ve just had to cancel ours. We’re in London and it feels like everyone we know has Covid at the moment. One couple who we were meant to be seeing earlier this week cancelled as they had colds but reassured me their lateral flows were negative. Now they’ve got positive PCRs so it just feels like too much of a risk so close to Christmas.

Sorry to read that Sunset. Its so unfair. We are going ahead with just one family coming over this afternoon/evening (they have already all had covid this autumn so are about as safe as guests can be these days!). I just need to scrub the whole house and reduce food /drinks plans.

@Burnamer

I imagine you’ll have covid on offer so that should make it memorable enough Hmm
Just here for the Covid comment.

We’ve just cancelled our Christmas eve neighbourhood party (with a heavy heart)
Al least I will have all my children home for Christmas.
