So what are you having?

And what are the kids having?

Adults: beef Wellington, lamb, stuffing, Yorkshire's, gravy, Mac n cheese, rice & peas, roasties, roast carrots, steamed broccoli.

Kids: pastry from Wellington, lamb if they fancy it, Yorkshire's, gravy, Mac and cheese, rice, roasties and probably cucumber 🤣🤣🤣

We are having slow roast lamb, pigs in blankets, roast potatoes, roast parsnips, braised red cabbage, carrots and sprouts, Yorkshire puddings and gravy.

DS1 is veggie so will have Linda McCartney veg sausages, potatoes/Yorkshire's and raw carrots. Ds2 will eat everything. DD will have pigs in blankets, potatoes, carrots and cucumber. They will all eat dessert.

Dessert: Yule log and/or Pavlova

@SloeFox

This thread is so timely. I have run out of inspiration.

DH is vegetarian. A few weeks ago I tried the mushroom and chestnut wellington from the Hairy Bikers to see what he though (with an eye to Christmas day) but although he loved it he doesn't want it again. I have one DC who eats everything and one who has a range of issues and eats a very limited diet.

So, ;

Starter - salmon, prawns and salmon roe for me with various trimmings. - blinis with pickled beetroot and goats cheese and mint for DH. Maybe blinis sort of welsh rarebit stile for Dcs.

Main- roast chicken with bread sauce gravy for me and DS2. Sliced ham for DS1. DH no idea. Nut roast possibly. With full usual christmas sides for us all except DS1 who only eats raw cucumbers, peppers and tomatos.

Pudding- tiramisu and custard for 3 of us and packet chocolate custard and sprinkles for Ds1.

But nothing is set in stone and I would love some ideas.

Hey sloe, check out a lentil loaf. It's cheap, easy and can be made ahead. It's basically cooked red lentils with a variety of chopped and sautéed veggies, combined with a beaten egg and pressed into a loaf tin. It's moister than a nut roast and it carves beautifully!

We have a family feast and party games on Christmas Eve of:

Honey glazed ham
Sausage rolls
Christmas layered pie
Cheeses
Breads
Crackers
Pickles
Chutneys
Salads
Trifle
Crumble (we have an orchard so it's a good way of using apples)

Christmas Day, I start all over again with:

Turkey
Stuffing
Roasties
Mash
Carrots
Sprouts
Red cabbage
Roasted chestnuts
Pig in blankets
Christmas pudding

Boxing Day (I'm a glutton for punishment) I make bubble and squeak with all the leftovers and a dollop of turkey dripping

The day after Boxing Day, for any stragglers, there's turkey curry.

I have 14 people coming for Christmas and by NYD, I've usually LOST weight. 😂
