Gingerbread House Kit

Morning,

I’ve left it late, I know.

Can someone please recommend a gingerbread house kit, preferably with the gingerbread already made. I had planned to the get Lakeland one but it’s sold out as has the M&S one. I’ve looked online, but the ones I’ve seen (that are in stock) seem to have poor reviews.

Thanks

Morrisons have a good one.

We got an IKEA one on Friday.

Lidl had some and Aldi had some already constructed. Though I was looking a few weeks ago and the shelves were looking somewhat sparse already.

Thanks and sorry, just spotted that there is already a thread similar to this

I like the IKEA ones. Cheap enough and small enough for each child to have one of their own but still satisfying to make, look at and eat.

They have the choice of packs with one small house or packs with a few mini houses.

mommybear1 · 13/12/2021 06:53

Yes ikea here too

Felldownabackdonhole · 13/12/2021 07:06

I had the Lakeland one which is fab so not surprised they sold out. I have previously made my own. A top tip is look for a triangle house as it is easier to build and less likely to fall down.

I bought one from Home Sense, it does the job but the sweets are cheap teeth breakers so I’d replace with jelly tots and smarties.

Aldi have one already made that you decorate - that’s the one we have after one too many melt downs about not getting them to stay up.

The IKEA one is good though.

Not home sense, home bargains.

Prompted by this thread, I popped to Lidl and got hold of one of the last two. We have had theirs in the past, and like them, whereas the Ikea one drove me into an insensate fury and I hurled it across the kitchen. They are now selling tubes of bakers' glue, with the help of which I successfully made a crocembouche this weekend.

Itsnotdeep · 13/12/2021 21:57

my local Lidl still had some on Sunday.

Lidl

Morrisons. Or the Cadburys chocolate one! Grin

Dinosauratemydaffodils · 14/12/2021 10:34

I like the lidl one, we've made it the last two Christmases and have had no issues. Got a box put aside for next week. I buy Dr Oekter's baking glue in bulk and use that to stick it together. It's never failed me yet.

I tried to make the Lakeland one with my DS on Sunday, he spent ages cutting out the shapes and it came out of the oven in one big bubble mess! Still can't think what we did wrong.
