I had a reconditioned iPhone 7 from Amazon a couple of years ago...it was okay, I went for the highest condition level possible....there was barely a mark on it, and the battery life was over 90%.

It really is the luck of the draw though. If it's from a third-party selling on Amazon, I'd check their reviews before ordering. If it is from Amazon direct, I'd give it a good check over before gifting. At least you will be able to return it if there is any problems.

I buy them for DD. The kids won't be seen dead with Samsung and I don't like apple prices

I've bought 2 from music magpie that have been fine.

Dd has a refurbed iPhone 8 from Amazon. Works great, has been more than 12 months with no issue. It was £150 - I paid £100 and she saved the other £50 from pocket money.

I wanted her to have an iPhone as I can set up a family account and can restrict how long she can spend on the phone from mine.

I've bought a couple of refurbished phones via eBay.

They were great but the batteries do start losing charge quite quickly after a couple of years so you might find yourself replacing more quickly than you would otherwise.

However I think it's the perfect solution for a child's phone as they're likely to want to upgrade anyway.

I've had several phones from Music Magpie for me andthe kids. They give a warranty and fully refurbish the phones then sell as pristine, very good, good or I forget the bottom grade but priced accordingly. My youngest DC has a giffgaff Sim, but the rest of us got great offers when we tried to cancel our providers so stayed put.

I've bought 6 i phones over the last few years from music magpie. On the whole they"ve been great. We did get an iphone 6 that started to loose its charge after a year but I believe this was an issue with the iphone model.

We've had iphones from Music Magpie all been fine and come with a years warranty. You can also get reconditioned phones direct from Apple refurbished they look brand new, come in new packaging and with a years warranty.

Another nod for Music Magpie here 👍

WalkingOnSonshine · 12/12/2021 21:01

I only ever get my phones from Music Magpie now.

I bought my current phone and previous phone from giff gaff. Previous phone was an iPhone 7 and lasted 3 years before the battery life degraded too much. Current phone is an iPhone XR. I didn't go for the highest quality, but the one just below but phone seems great so far.

I got a refurbished i phone 6 from eBay (12 month guarantee) it’s 5 years old and still going. The battery was replaced by Apple as it was one of the ones affected by them.
