WanderingHolly · 18/12/2007 12:12

This has become a grammar exercise.

I iron under duress.
I hoover through gritted teeth.
I bleach in joy.
I change bedding in a fit of coughing like I've got fricking consumption.

Spockster · 18/12/2007 12:13

Shaking out the duvet makes me breathless.

toomanysleighs · 18/12/2007 12:16

My neighbour has put a robin on the top of her Christmas tree instead of a star. AIBU to think she is a bad mother?

S1ur · 18/12/2007 12:16

With ecstasy or asthma Spockster?

S1ur · 18/12/2007 12:19

She is in fact a demon. Do not look her in the eye or she will flay you. The robin is her familiar and can hear your thoughts

toomanysleighs · 18/12/2007 12:21

refer to robin thread please, I thought it was a theoretical ridiculous thread, but no it is actually A REAL ONE?

HarkTheHassledAngelsSing · 18/12/2007 12:21

I do all housework with seething resentment.
I cook with a song in my heart, though.

I also have a stuffed Robin on my (indoor) lemon tree - is that why it never produces any lemons?

walkinginawinterBundleland · 18/12/2007 12:22

tis a daemon

also our next door neighbour sent us a card which is simply a digital photo of our own holly tree

is this fair?

Tamum · 18/12/2007 12:23

Bundle

S1ur · 18/12/2007 12:27

Are you mocking me???
a demon (or daemon, dæmon, daimon) all acceptable. But not as neighbours.

walkinginawinterBundleland · 18/12/2007 12:29

she's an artist, he's an ex member of the style council/architect/composer/kitchen entrepreneur

they have 2 cats

S1ur · 18/12/2007 12:29

Was the holly tree in your garden? Were they confessing to trespassing? Or perhaps reminding you to get out your hedge trimmers?

walkinginawinterBundleland · 18/12/2007 12:31

part of it does stray into their airspace
we've taken bags of it round to rest of neighbours in festive warm gesture

it has plenty of berries

they have invited us to new year's eve drinks

Spockster · 18/12/2007 12:34

Then it's clear they believe the card to be a generous display of their artistic talents, you should be grateful, maybe even thank them for honouring your humble tree in this way. But no, it is not fair.

Tamum · 18/12/2007 12:34

Could you take a picture of their car, say, and make it into a card to return the compliment?

walkinginawinterBundleland · 18/12/2007 12:35

i wanted the tree felled last year but the tree surgeon told me it was one of the most beautiful holly trees he'd ever seen in london. so we kept it. and made £70 at borough market on some snippings.

5GoldenFIMBOs · 18/12/2007 12:36

SheherazadetheSwedishjulbok · 18/12/2007 12:37
