Mumsnet Secret Santa

Does anyone else remember when Mumsnet was small enough to have our own Secret Santa?
Anyone who wanted to participate sent details to someone who told us who to send a present to - I don’t recall being given any details other than the name and address. I think there was a 5 or 10 pound budget
I loved it , did it for a couple of years and was sent some nice treats. I can’t imagine it working now - apart from anything else ( huge logistics!) I guess most wouldn’t feel happy giving out names and addresses to people we’d never met.

Yes I remember. The “thank you” thread which descended into recriminations and anger was always an interesting read over NY.

Many Name changes (and 10 years) ago I was the recipient of one of the nominate a person who deserves it threads. DC and I were having a horrific time and when I received the gift I cried so hard at the kindness of a stranger.

Every single year I pay that forward in a couple of different ways because I could not have imagined the power of kindness during a tough time until I experienced it.

I also did a swap secret santa one after that year and loved the response to the gift I sent out too.

I just don't think it would work now with the size of MN.
