Silly stocking fillers

Can anyone suggest where I can find some silly things for putting in older kids stockings? Every online site that appears good turns out to be US based!

Don't put silly things in stockings is my best advice. They're just crap that gets binned and that's shocking for the environment.

Putting together useful stockings doesn't mean they're not fun.

I put things they'll use in there...like if you want something fun, choose some funny socks...they'll wear those at least. Lip balms, nail polish, sweets, pens, face masks, soap, bath bombs.

Fairy cake mix
Satsuma
Piece of coal to be used for the New Years Eve tradition.
Knit your own bobble hat.
Mini solar charger.
Nasa ice cream
Sew on retro fabric patches.
Bird food
Amaryllis
Framed £20 note to be used in an emergency.
Pack of unusual playing cards.

No idea what an 'older kid' is? 8, 10, 17, 30???
I usually associate silly with useless, plastic tat. Some ideas that may/may not fit your criteria, but without knowing how old your 'older kids' are, its tricky to make suggestions:

  • Chocolate orange
  • Head torch
  • Mini torch for keys
  • Mini tool set
  • Fart pillow
  • Fake dog poo
  • Small magic set
  • Funny playing cards
  • Uno game
  • Funny toilet paper
  • Golf set for using on the toilet
  • Funny Christmas hat/glasses/shirt

Silly stocking fillers = plastic tat = straight in the bin.

Useful small items are much better.
Lip balm
Small makeup items
Mini toiletries
Magazine rolled up, especially a Christmas edition
DVD
Wind up torch - try camping shops
Cute fluffy socks
Hair accessories
Scented pens
Chocolate coins/sprouts etc, scattered throughout the stocking
Mini lego set
Blind bags

I've bought glow in the dark playing cards, which seem a bit fun but also quite good for scout camps etc for the boys

coloured hair wax

Construct your own cardboard ducks which you can then race by blowing through straws

Oh one year I bought a load of fake snow Packs for their stockings and we had a snowball fight in the kitchen Grin

Paper lasers

Depending on how old they are.. plop trumps. Top trumps with animal poo. I suspect this is going to be a big hit with mine 😂

Trekkerbabe · 10/12/2021 12:57

Plop trumps sounds perfect. That's exactly the sort of thing I am after. Where did you buy?

I've already done their stockings with lots of nice things. I just want to put a few silly things in like jokey stuff, stuff that will make them laugh with their cousins later on. Not.plastic tat!!

They are nearly 10...

Thanks.

I got some nice bits from www.whirligigtoys.co.uk/ last year.

DS enjoyed plop trumps when he received them as a secret Santa present a few years ago.
