What time do your kids wake up to open presents?

And what age are they?

We have been fortunate with our two boys so far that they have always slept until 8am but have heard of some people up at 4 in the morning.

What time do you expect your DC to awake? Do you make them wait until a certain time or go with it!? 🎅

DD knows that if she doesn't see her stocking at the end of her bed Father Christmas hasn't visited our house yet so she needs to go to back sleep (because everyone knows he doesn't deliver if children are awake). What I actually used to do when she was little was set my alarm for about 6am, then sneak her stocking in to her room which guaranteed no 4am starts which is what would have happened if we'd put her stocking out before we went to bed. The shouts of "Mummy he's beeeeeeeeen!!!!" are some of my absolute favourite memories.

DD5 usually wakes up at 8am of her own volition. We wake her at 7:10 on school days.

(she goes to bed at a reasonable time (7:30pm) she's just not a morning person like me )

On Christmas Day I'll willingly accept 7am, I'll encourage her to at least try to go back to sleep before then.

I think I'd actually insist she goes back to bed before 5:30, not least as she's be a tired mess by lunchtime with not a hope in hell of napping.

My eldest is just starting to have done concept of Christmas (he's almost 4), but youngest has no idea. Hopefully I'll be able to get the youngest through to 6am, which means eldest will snuggle with me and have cartoons on my phone for s bit if he's up before. DH is singing at midnight mass so it will be me up at silly o clock. The kids will be happy to play though while I wake up a bit.

Mine are told 7am but the eldest (now almost 8) is normally awake before then and we usually wake the younger one! Father Christmas leaves a couple of presents out of their stocking they can open straight away and the rest wait for 7am and they bring them to our bed and they do take it in turns.

We do presets from us/family after breakfast and do take it in turns and watch each other. We all like it that way and the children enjoy handing them out to everyone.
