Secret Santa for the woman who has everything

She's extremely into clothes and jewelry and also has expensive tastes in bath stuff etc.

I just don't know! She likes Chai Lattes and I was thinking of getting her some organic Chai tea mix along with some posh chocolate from an independent chocalatier near us.

But food always seems a cop out doesn't it?

What on earth do I do? She doesn't read as she listens to audio books

Grin at the Costa gift card suggestion.

ButtonSister · 09/12/2021 06:57

I think the problem with just a voucher is that if there is a spend limit and everyone spends their £10 on a voucher for each other you may as well have kept your money to yourselves. It becomes totally transactional.

Clymene · 09/12/2021 07:13

God I bloody hate Costa. Your first idea was perfect. She's probably dreading getting some crap she doesn't want.

Riverlee · 09/12/2021 07:34

@Babyfg

A nice Christmas decoration, maybe personalised?
I was also thinking of Christmas decoration.
Gravychicken · 09/12/2021 07:39

I got my secret Santa some posh hair Ties I got the bobble silk scrunchies and then some normal ones they don’t leave kinks in the hair

crochetmonkey74 · 09/12/2021 07:42

I really like your latte and chocs idea. I like consumables as you sometimes get stuff you haven't tried or wouldn't buy yourself

Bimblybomeyelash · 09/12/2021 07:49

I think something edible from a fancy local
Independent shop.

Blackmagicqueen · 09/12/2021 07:52

Some posh bubble bath?

catinboots123 · 09/12/2021 07:54

Toe dividers

WouldBeGood · 09/12/2021 08:32

I agree with the Neom candle idea.

Or a Space NK voucher.

itspartytime · 09/12/2021 08:33

Sunscreen ? Battery air fan ? Crazy ice cube shapes tray and a cocktail glass ?

Cascascascas · 09/12/2021 08:34

@FortunesFave

Christmas knickers

Mindymomo · 09/12/2021 08:45

I got given 2 portable perfume atomisers. These are lipstick size atomisers that you fill from your own perfume and carry these around in handbag, rather than take the whole bottle, they are really a nice thing to have and with 2 in different colours, you can have different perfume in each.

WouldBeGood · 09/12/2021 08:47

Good shout @Mindymomo, I have those and really like them

Practicebeingpatient · 09/12/2021 08:48

I am also the woman who has everything (as I think many middle aged and older women are) and the only gifts I want are consumables. I have more than enough stuff and am in the process of gradually decluttering, passing on, selling or recycling anything that I don't absolutely love. And even consumables can be wrong, the wrong scent of candle or a body lotion that will give me a rash is destined straight for the charity shop.

Of all the suggestions I've seen on here, the only one I'd be genuinely grateful for is the voucher. I'd be happy with Costa but if you don't think she'd like that then there are so many other choices. At the very least she could regift it.

But someone else upthread had a point - that exchanging vouchers can become transactional. Which is why I've totally opted out of even Secret Santas this year. I will still attend the parties/evenings when the gifts are exchanged and have a wonderful time seeing friends and family but I will leave without another unwanted present to dispose of. Winning at life!

HarrietsweetHarriet · 09/12/2021 09:01

How about a string of soft white, tasteful, fairy lights? She can use on a mantlepiece at Christmas or in a child's bedroom all year round. Or in her kitchen all year round (like me)!

RedToothBrush · 09/12/2021 09:06

A book on how to declutter...

Blackmagicqueen · 09/12/2021 09:12

It wasn't this one exactly but dm who has everything loved this as a gift.

sashh · 09/12/2021 09:35

I know...we live in a city with many independent coffee makers and cafes so Costa doesn't even exist here and if it did, people wouldn't be impressed.

Are you in Freeo?

Does she have a favorite magazine? You could maybe get a subscription.

I used to have an atomiser as a PP described, I loved it and I don't know where I lost it.

Do you know the make up brand she buys? Maybe book her a make over, or consultation. I know Chanel do perfume consultations and make up consultations in the UK.

The consultation is usually free so you could add a voucher, but you do need to know someone's taste or preferred brand.

@ButtonSister

What's the obsession with Costa vouchers on the SS threads?
Because of this thread: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/4416277-Aibu-to-be-absolutely-furious-at-friend?pg=1
ButtonSister · 09/12/2021 19:55

@Constance1 Oh right, I remember that thread, so it's a bot of a "cancel the cheque" memey joke thing?

DaphneDeloresMoorhead · 09/12/2021 20:06

Audible voucher

Yes, I think the latest 'cancel the cheque' mumset in-joke!

peaceanddove · 09/12/2021 22:17

Real silk pillowcase? Or real silk eye mask?
