We’ve had a rough time of it and ds has just got more and more into his computer. Doesn’t seem to do anything else! He’s asked for extra ram and a giant Jaffa cake tube. Any ideas at all?! Help! And if anyone can recommend anything to get him off computer, that’s be brilliant 🤩

Ooh good ideas! I took him to an escape room in the summer out of desperation and they all enjoyed. So yes! Coolio!
Also like rainmaker, it’s his birthday early jan.
Owl in batter, that sounds super scary. Omg! Just looked it up, £320! I’m a bit horrible, I told mine that Calvin cline t shirts that sell for 40 odd here are, or were 16 p each wholesale in China. And that the only thing a label said about you was that you are a mug. May have gone too far, Tho, now ds doesn’t bother at all! 🤨 so hard this parent lark!

Thanks all, I am FINALLY a off shopping with your suggestions. I may have left it a bit late🥺
Tha ONLY thing he’s asked for is a giant tube of Jaffa’s. Of course there are none to be seen!
Tile trackers, fitness watch driving experience I’m pinching those ideas for Dp.
Thank you! And happy Xmas x

Probably works out cheaper to buy the normal packs anyway and just join them together to wrap

I'm not sure it was jaffa cakes but try B&M - that's the only place I have seen the big tubes this year (normally everywhere)

Moomarre · 17/12/2021 13:24

From us:
Fire stick (and an old tv in his bedroom)
Astros

From grandparents:

What about LED light strips that he can put around his room and adjust the colours with a remote or his phone like these? amzn.to/3siNfW2

Mine is getting “merch” from his favourite YouTuber which is the main thing he’s asked for (mainly clothes but also a plushie lol), also board games including a dungeon and dragon type one, 3 player chess, one of those make it yourself 3D wooden moving puzzle things, a Bluetooth speaker, the new Taskmaster book, fiction books, funko pop figure of Agatha Harkness from Wandavision, Sega game for his switch, Miitopia for his switch, sleep headband earphones, anime drawing book, ice cream maker, new PJs, Jolly Rancher sweets.

blibblibs · 18/12/2021 01:27

DS13 has a playstation voucher, Simon says, watch - leather strap, non smart as requested! Leather bag, fleecey lined joggers, stranger things merchandise, chemistry books ( he'll love them!) Pants socks and smellies, a few poo things! And we have mega monopoly as the family gift and cash from grandparents and aunties.

WandaWomblesaurus · 18/12/2021 01:51

@PleaseReferToMeAsBritneySpears

Jurassic Park chess sounds brilliant! Almost as good as wizard chess!
Except wizards don’t eat you when you lose! I want all the dinosaur and all the wizard presents mentioned on this thread.
Iceskatequeen · 18/12/2021 09:30

Ds 13 is having a TV
Weights
Hoodie
Football gloves
Football top
Football calendar

In his stocking he's getting
Bath bombs
Pens for school
Football quiz book
Mini light memory game
Chocolate

From family he's getting stuff for his bike

He's into football and biking if you missed that

Thanksagainand · 20/12/2021 00:10

So many good ideas! If only ds had any interests at all. Have found..
Gift box of toxic waste sweets
Star Wars jigsaw
That’s it.
Aggh! Hitting the shops tomorrow. I get into a total panic about Xmas every year and am frozen with fear from September onwards. The pressure for it to be fun and not like another blooming boring Sunday! There is only 4 of us and Dp can be quite hard work. Thanks for the ideas tho, brilliant.
Will continue search for elusive Jaffa tube. Thanks . What is going on with that? Our b m bargains looks as if a storm has been through it. Empty shelves broken tat. Madness!

Really struggling here too

So far I have

-A new Nintendo Switch game (only thing he has actually asked for)
-Bluetooth beanie hat & tech gloves
-Board games (family Xmas tradition)
-Chocolate seashells (his favourite)

Planning on giving him a Steam gift card as I just can't think of anything else!

Snowmonkeycoat · 20/12/2021 00:41

Mostly clothes, trainers, grooming products, some nice fragrance, Christmas rugby ball, Underarmour, chocolate bouquet etc

NewtoHolland · 20/12/2021 00:42

14 year old Nephew-

  • Bosh cook book (he's woke and vegan) and a few accessories to go with.

His mum is planning to allocate him a night to cook per week... hoping to get him out of his room more ,,🤞🤞

MintJulia · 20/12/2021 01:21

My ds is exactly the same re: his computer.

I've got him a waterproof cycling jacket and cycling gloves (he moaned about getting cold hands), a heavy duty, outdoor fleece, some art pastels & fixative, a game for his pc. a s/hand weather station with WiFi link back to his pc.

In his stocking there is a chocolate elf, some highlighters, pens, blue and white star lights, decoupage letters that spell his name.,

It's a difficult age. He has out-grown toys, and not yet interested in clothes, smellies, girls etc.

Tagliatelevision · 20/12/2021 01:44

We are constantly being asked for a gaming pc. For those that have bought one, is there a Best Buy? Do you go laptop or desktop? I don't know where to start!

MintJulia · 20/12/2021 01:55

I went for a desktop because they have more room for extra ram/storage/video card etc.

Specs change so quickly that in the end I decided what I could afford to spend, went to my friendly independent pc support shop, and asked them to build me the best spec available for the money, having described what ds would use it for.
We're several years later and it's still running everything he wants, plus is lightning fast for home schooling/Teams.

Flamingoose · 20/12/2021 02:30

It's a tricky age, isn't it.

We're getting 14yo ds a microscope that attaches to his computer so you can look at it on the screen.

Tagliatelevision · 20/12/2021 09:33

@MintJulia - thank you so much...that reply was super helpful
