It's looking a bit forlorn and unloved.

Pleae help! your tree looks great what are your tips?

I've a 6ft prelit tree from M&S it's a bit short to be honest I think another foot would help. First trauma: how do I arrange the branches. Hey do not behave at all.

The decorations (baubles? The things that hang most are not bauble shaped) are collected from various trips and a gift and a either too big to dangle or too small and look lost. They don't really follow a theme - I did start with Nordic red white but it doesn't work when you collect random ones!

Also it's in the corner so do I leave the back third with no decorations ?

You twist and bend those bastard branches until they behave the way you need them to.

NEVER!

Can’t you bend the branches to make it look fuller?

The branches fold down on our tree, then you have to fan out the smaller branches which are attached to each main branch to make it look fuller.

Put it on a small table to elevate it. I put small decorations at the top and gradually work down size wise so large baubles are on the bottom.

I’ve kept all the Christmas decorations I’ve ever bought, so usually just pick a kind of colour scheme or a theme and try to work around that.

I decorate all the way round, but if it’s in a corner, then I probably wouldn’t bother with the bottom 1/4 at the back as you wouldn’t see that bit.

Last year I went for stars, snowflakes, glass and a bit of silver.

This year I’m thinking of gold and natural ie pine cones.

Good luck

Ours is 6ft and we’ve placed the stand on a4 books to elevate it, 2 books on each leg, It’s inside the wicker skirt so you can’t tell and the extra height really helps.

If it's really in the corner you can use some of the back branches to fill out the front and wedge it more into the corner. Really spend time separating all the branches out (I wear gloves to do it). Enough lights (and then probably more) I would space out the bigger baubles then fill in with smaller and smaller.

These are great tips! I'm going to add some more lights and shuffle the decorations about a bit. It's in front of a surround sound sub speaker thing it can't go right back. It's also pinioned between two sofas.

In the cold light of day it looks better than it did!
