We have a long-standing arrangement with DH’s parents that we do not exchange gifts between the adults. Except that is a bit of a lie. Every year they get us a voucher for a meal and an offer for a night of babysitting. Every year we get them something sentimental like a framed photo or a Christmas bauble made from children’s artwork. His brother has the same arrangement and tends towards things like sofa pillows with the family name on them.
I am absolutely stumped this year.
They had a big anniversary so had family photos done in every possible permutation.
I made them a family tree art piece for the anniversary. I really don’t think the gift should be another artwork from me.
DC does not happen to have created any art that could be turned into a Christmas bauble and is currently obsessed with perfecting her close up eye drawing and doesn’t want to be distracted from her process.
I know that in theory, DH should handle this, but he is awful at these things. Really, really awful. My ILs are wonderful. I want them to have something to open at Christmas
