My absolute favourite is Must be Santa by Bob Dylan and I want a hippopotamus for Christmas. Love the cheesy ones and underrated ones you don't hear constantly!

There's none i hate really but if pushed not a fan of rocking around the Christmas tree or little drummer boy. And Buble could disappear forever and I wouldnt be sad about it i don't get the hype! Mariah gets on my nerves as it seems to always be on in shops/radio.

Favourite - Donny Hathaway, This Christmas.

Worst - Pogues, Fairytale of NY

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 02/12/2021 09:53

Worst ever surely has to be that Cliff Richard one - Mistletoe and Wine.

MistyGreenAndBlue · 02/12/2021 10:54

The worst Christmas song hands down is Do You Know how Christmas Trees are grown? It's just appalling.
My personal favourite is Carol of The Bells but there are plenty I like in all genres.

Jamie Callum hang you lights is brilliant - just encapsulates that fun, funny, carefree slightly pissed sex you have at Christmas. In fact his whole Christmas album is brilliant and really captures different moments that resonate with me.

The Waitresses Christmas Wrapping is my other favourite, and Christmas Lights by Coldplay. Also the whole of Phil Spectors album. Basically all Christmas music.

Love Jamie Cullum's Christmas, especially the song the Pianoman At Christmas.

My absolute favourite Christmas song is The Best Gift by Barbara Streisand about a child being born at Christmas.

Hate hate hate the Darkness and Bo Selecta Proper Crimbo. Just terrible.

I hate, absolutely hate every single one.every year the same crap music in shops.thankfully, there are headphones now to block out these awful tunes.

Funkyslippers · 02/12/2021 12:32

My absolute fave is Pipes of Peace though some might argue it's not a Christmas song but it only seems to get played around this time. I also really like Chris De Burgh A Spaceman Came Travelling as it reminds me of a particularly lovely Christmas I had many years ago working with this lovely guy in our little office and they kept playing it on the radio. I have no idea what it's about though

I hate any Michael Buble. I also don't really like John Lennon Happy Christmas as I the words don't make sense "another year over, and a new one just begun". No, it's Christmas and the year hasn't ended yet! I like most others though at the moment I tend to turn the radio over if one comes on as I still think it's a bit to early. (I did put Macca on Alexa yesterday though!)

I really like 'What if' by Kate Winslet, from A Christmas Carol but I don't think many people have heard of it! As for songs I don't like, I'm not really a fan of Band Aid's 'Do they know it's Christmas' although I know it raised lots of money.

Immaculatemisconception · 02/12/2021 13:33

Favourite - Greg Lake, I Believe in Father Christmas

Worst - Slade, Merry Christmas Everybody

Funkyslippers · 02/12/2021 13:42

Yeah, Do They Know It's Christmas is so patronising and wrong in many ways. But the original is far better than the later versions.

Squirrelblanket · 02/12/2021 13:52

I absolutely hate Merry Christmas Darling by The Carpenters. I listen to Heart Christmas radio and they play it repeatedly. Not only does it get stuck in my head every time it has some really stupid lines in it. "Logs on the fire fill me with desire" 🤮
