Just finished setting up Christmas Breakfast!

Some people might remember I posted 2 or 3 years ago about the 'Christmas Breakfast' I do for my DC on 1st December. I got blasted by some posters and one poster branded it 'Plastic tat mentality' - which still makes me laugh every year! I'm still sticking to our tradition and have just got things ready.

I decorate the table and set the DC's places with their Christmas plate. I prop their advent calendar up at their place. I make something Christmassy for breakfast like star shaped toast or tree shaped crumpets. This year I am doing Snowman pancakes! They also have a jingle bell pen each. Can't wait to see their faces in the morning! Christmas music will be playing as they come down the stairs! Glitterball
@KurtWildesChristmasNamechange I grew up in Spain so we do Reyes on the 6th Jan. It’s a lovely way of finishing the Christmas period!
My parents live in Spain and my mum always sends a book for my DC from the 3 Kings. If they come over she brings the 3 Kings chocolate figures.

@Smileatthesmallthings

Well. I think we may be having a Christmas themed pancake snack when DS (4) gets home from school!!!
I was already going to get his tree out of the loft for him to decorate as he's so excited and we've told him no Christmas till December. We usually put everything up gradually throughout the first week (although I do normally have it all down by 28th, and definitely by new year's eve)

And we do a Christmas Eve box too; new PJs, bath bomb, Santa's coming to (insert town here) book, Christmas themed rubber duck and his Christmas plate and cup. Nothing extravagant or that we wouldn't normally have.

Enjoy!

I love this thread. And it's nice to see so many of us have traditions from other countries integrated into the festivities Smile

Sounds lovely! A great way to start the Christmas month. I think I will steal this idea when my DD is old enough to enjoy it.

Hope you had a fab breakfast.

Good for you to make Christmas magical and memorable for your children. My mum used to go the extra mile for Christmas and as an adult now I look back on it with really fond memories of how magical she’d make it for us. So ignore the negativity, you’re making memories and putting a smile on your kids faces- and for me that’s priceless!

I remember your thread because it inspired me to do the same. My kids - 2 of whom are now teens - love it. It's a cheap and easy way to do something Christmassy. Probably the only time this year my 14 yo son has sat down to breakfast with us too! I could never be doing with that flipping elf - far too much effort. I don't have the money for Christmas boxes and expensive trips. So thank you op for giving me the idea for something simple that has given my kids a lot of pleasure over the last few years!

Like other people things haven’t been too great recently, and this has cheered us all up. Ds1 now wants to do a Father Christmas version but can think what to use for his red hat. Squirty cream for beard and bobble obvs Grin

@Angel2702

😆 We do a North Pole breakfast too to make it a double Mumsnet sin our Elves set ours up when they arrive having also put up all our decorations and tree. It is the thing the kids look forward to more than Christmas Day. This is our last year of Elf On The Shelf but they’ve already decided to do the breakfast themselves next year.

@Angel2702

FMD if the Elf puts the tree & decs up and makes breakfast I'd tolerate the wee shit!

As you're done with him, would he like to come here next year?

Not my idea- we had something similar as a dessert at work one year and it was strawberries for the hat, cream for the beard and I think raisins or choc buttons for the face

What is wrong with a Christmas breakfast on December 1st, you have a lovely Christmas tradition unlike the Mum i read about today that gets up at 04:30 so she can start drinking and admits she is pissed by breakfast, ow that is a terrible Christmas tradition.

We’re a right mish mash of Christmas traditions now that I have 2 Eastern European daughters in law in the family.

It’s lovely.
