Dd is a really good kid and never asks for anything in particular. She's always really grateful for anything she gets and usually I listen really carefully in the months leading up to Christmas for anything she might mention in passing etc

This year we're a little stumped.

She has a phone / airpods (previous 2 years presents) and she got a laptop earlier in the year for remote school work.

She's not into gaming or crafting or cosplay etc

So far I have a silver locket and some makeup but I am hoping for some ideas for other presents.

She doesn't get many other presents at all (maybe 3 token things from family and that's it)

It's been such a time for them (and the rest of us) we'd like to spoil her a little...

All ideas welcome

I don’t have a daughter but pretty much every teen girl I know wants one of these
www.kudd.ly/shop/hoodie-blanket/

I want one as well but it looks like I will have to buy it myself

Innocenta · 30/11/2021 16:35

What's her aesthetic? As in, how is her room decorated? That is a fantastic guide to what a teenage girl might like.

Some possibles:

Fashionable lighting - LED light strips are often recommended but she may be a touch too old and want something more mature; there are very nice (but affordable) chic glass lamps on Urban Outfitters that could work

Candles - the twisted and bubble styles are very fashionable

A borg cushion (again, UO has them) if she hasn't already got one

Not a 'big' gift, but maybe a shower speaker?

Lighted Hollywood mirror?

A quality camera if she'd like it, or a Bluetooth-connected turntable if she's into anything retro.

HewasH2O · 30/11/2021 16:51

Ultimate Ears Boom speaker or a bedroom revamp, with new bedding etc.

snowmanshoes · 30/11/2021 17:00

My DD15 is after some Nike air Jordan’s (can’t pin the right pair down at the minute though….) and she has recently asked for a heated fluffy blanket Grin
How about a watch or some of those Pandora stacker rings? A lot of my daughters friends seem to have those

Loveatthe5anddime · 30/11/2021 17:00

Doc Martins or cool Converse (check out the future is bright pair) I have a 13 and 15 year old and those are top of their lists.

My DD’s I would say are quite alternative but things they have asked for this year which I’m presuming are quite in style...

Wall tapestry’s
Crystals
Henna
“ANYTHING from Urban Outfitters”
Brown hoodie/joggers from the basic range H&M
Pastel and black and white letter bead set for making bracelets
Lush sleep hamper
Personalised chopsticks

A Sonos.

Things we have done previous years

Ooh agree with a fashionable/glass lamp - my dd bought herself a Moroccan style coloured glass lamp in the summer and it gets lots of oohs and ahhhs from her friends!

My 16yo DD has asked for cash, but I am getting her a mocktail crate like this so she has something bigger to open, in addition to a stocking:

Oh - and the LED strip lighting as mentioned by pps. I'm amazed by people buying candles - we never have them in the bedrooms. (Firefighters in the family)

snowmanshoes · 30/11/2021 21:20

Tbh my dd has several candles in her room but never lights them they’re more of a feature - she does use her room diffuser for fragrance mostly - which is another idea with aromatherapy oils

Innocenta · 30/11/2021 21:23

Shower Speaker!!! You have solved a problem for me! Thanks so much @Innocenta.
FactyFrances · 01/12/2021 20:13

Have same problem & DD has a
December birthday too. The only thing she's asked for is an electric toothbrush.

Please keep the suggestions coming! Especially for girls who aren't fussed about clothes, makeup or hobbies.

Twobigsapphires · 01/12/2021 21:41

My 16 year old dd is getting: converse, baking set, band t shirts, candles, books, pjs, Marc Jacobs perfume, Apple Watch.

Twolostsoulsswimminginafishbow · 01/12/2021 22:50

It really depends on her style and the budget. How long is her hair? DD has asked for those big rollers you leave in for Christmas. She has just had her Birthday and is going to Japan next year so money plays a large part in both that and her Christmas gift but she recently bought Doc Martin boots with huge soles that seem fairly in at the moment but they’re quite expensive. DD likes anything Japanese…books, art, figures and even a pay per view channel specifically to watch anime.
The only thing she asked for was an oodie for her Birthday, depending on how much you want to spend they’re around £80 but Primark do one for £14. I got her one in the mid range for £40.

UniBallEye · 02/12/2021 16:02

Thank you all, there are some great suggestions on there and I have now made a couple of decisions.

@Loveatthe5anddime I think our dd's sound pretty similar!

dd is sort of alternative too. She very much has her own style and is very fussy.

I was smiling at your 'brown hoody' as my dd is also really into brown and it was such an unexpected colour choice when she first started wearing it.

Bershka has lots of nice brown stuff at the moment.

DD mentioned in 2 random conversations that she'd like a flip camera camcorder so I managed to order one at a good price.

She also said she'd like Doc Martin shoes so I am looking at them

The other things I have ordered / am considering are:

Silver vintage locket
Asian cooking supplies (I'm thinking of a hamper which is a wok filled with hard to get condiments etc)
Asian cookbook - she loves all asian food and trying to make it at home
I got a bargain with aragon oil infused hair straighteners in Black Friday deal
some beauty stuff
A huge bar of her favourite chocolate
percy pigs

and a stocking

Feeling a lot less panicked now and I think she will be thrilled!
