I've not put my tree up yet, this is last year's, does it look like it needs more lights?
I've just read that a 6ft tree should have around 600 lights...went to dig out my almost 10 year old lights and I was shocked, shocked I tell you Grin , to see on the box that it said 160 lights, ideal for up to 7ft Shock . Now I'm telling myself I need to buy more lights.

Some of the bulbs are dead too, so there's even less.

Yes to more lights, you can never have too many.

I have 800 on a 7.5 foot tree.

BunTooti · 28/11/2021 15:47

800? You're my hero! I might get a set of a few hundred battery ones and use both.

It's 4 sets, 200 per set. I would put more on if I had them 😂

Cacee3029 · 28/11/2021 19:04

This confuses me too. Every website, tree or lights say different. Anyway, I bought new lights for my pretty full 7ft tree this weekend, they are from Argos and have 240 bulbs I believe. I was worried they might not be enough but they are fine. Probably room for a little more if required but the amount is adequate! Good coverage!

Franticbutterfly · 28/11/2021 22:36

At least 100 per foot is my rule.

CPDubs · 28/11/2021 22:57

I have cluster lights on our 8ft tree, 4 packs 480 lights on each Grin You can’t have too many lights!

OP, I think your tree looks lovely! Mind you, mine's the same, only about 150 lights on the whole thing.

ilovetea14 · 28/11/2021 23:15

I have 400 on my 7.5 Christmas tree. I didn't think it would be enough but I love it. Love all the Christmas trees 🎅

The ones who have multiple packs, do you have mains operated or battery operated?
Lovely trees 😍

We usually have, I think, 1000 white LED lights on a 6' tree.

I've just bought two sets of coloured lights from Aldi with 100 lights on each. They're the type with little flower-shaped shades so I thought we'd need fewer but now I'm thinking it won't be nearly enough. I can't have ten sets though, there's nowhere to plug them all in.

When I was a child we had a little twig of a thing that had to be stood on a table, at a guess maybe 4 feet, and I think all we had was one set of Pifco lantern lights.

SoupDragon · 29/11/2021 08:05

I go for fewer lights and lots of reflective decorations on mine. I have a set of mini mirror balls that do a great job of reflecting the lights.

BunTooti · 29/11/2021 11:10

That sounds lovely @SoupDragon

Those with multiple sets...how do you stop them all getting tangled up with one another?

We have 1000 on the 7ft tree and 800 on the 6ft. I like lots of lights.

ItsSnowJokes · 29/11/2021 11:13

I have 4000 cluster lights on my 6ft tree. I love lights Grin

Mains and an extension lead under the tree hidden.

I have 600 on my 7 foot tree. I'm actually thinking it's a bit over the top.

Yellow85 · 29/11/2021 14:36

1000 on a 7ft tree, but I usually push about half all the way in so the tree kind of glows from the inside so you don’t actually see as many light bulbs….

PhantomErik · 29/11/2021 14:39

7ft here with 2000 cluster lights. Photo taken in daylight so doesn't show the tree at it's best but you get the idea!

We got ours from Aldi! They’re lovely Grin

senorafridgidaire · 30/11/2021 08:41

The last two years I've had 750 on a 7 ft tree - warm copper colour LEDs, but they haven't really given me a proper christmassy feeling, they just make the room too bright on static, and the twinkle sequence is more flashy than twinkly.

So this year I am ditching them and going for 400 non-LED old school coloured lights, and hoping its enough! I prefer a non flashing gentle glow though and I know that's not very popular these days.

BunTooti · 01/12/2021 20:47

My lights have died! Shock
Now to decide what I'm going to buy to replace them.

I have a 6 foot tree, last year went with the 600 as recommended but wasn’t keen. The lights took over and blinded everything so that the decorations couldn’t be seen (blues and silvers)
This year I bought 400 instead and it looks much better, more than enough lights.

HikingforScenery · 01/12/2021 21:14

More lights!
