£20 gift challenge HELP!

It’s far easier to spend more and get a good gift but DH has said to limit gifts this year- which is great, we have too much clutter & junk.
He initially said £10 but you really can’t even get anything for that so we upped it to £20.

No clue what to get him.

He’s 52
rides a motorbike
likes DIY & tinkering
does not do smellies.

Does anyone have any suggestions please? TIA

Does he have one of those magnetic wristbands for DIY? Loads on Amazon.

MoiraNotRuby · 27/11/2021 09:10

I'd be very tempted to give him £20... in reality it depends what he already has for his bike and DIYing. A 'beautiful hamper' of duct tape, rolls of solder and batteries...

Findahouse21 · 27/11/2021 09:10

What do you like doing together - could you put a 'night-in' hamper together based in a shared activity? For instance dh and I love escape rooms so would get an escape room at home game and maybe some nice sweets to eat while we were doing it?

Head to all the shops looking for ideas. Charity shops have some nice books, toys and so on that make good presents. Alternatively you could order stuff from Amazon etc.

Visit your local bookshop and garden center in order to find more gifts to give out. Your local supermarket is also a good option for chocolates and wine too. Try Facebook Marketplace as well. Make a list of ideas.

He has a magnetic wristband

I’d be a bit miffed if he just handed me £20 tbh, he has a garage full of ‘stuff’ so I’d be worried about doubling up & it being a waste & I buy him a motorbike care kit (sprays, cloths & whatever) every year as something to open.

A night together usually consists of movies & chocolates so we already do that.

It’s so difficult! Last time he said to limit gifts I ended up buying him a PlayStation.

Seems silly just to spend £20 for the sake of having 'something to open'. My DH and I no longer exchange gifts ... we are lucky enough not to want our need any more 'stuff' in our lives.

Charity gift?

Socks/slippers Grin.

He's clearly saying he doesn't want any more 'junk' in his life so why not respect his request?

My DD doesn't want me to waste any of her xmas budget and would rather have the cash. So I spent £20 on charity shop books she will love - I've spent weeks going round them and she had a little stack which I've wrapped in genre

actiongirl1978 · 28/11/2021 09:21

But appreciate that books are clutter so maybe ignore that one!
