I'm not sure if all tree ornaments are baubles or not? But this monstrosity is THE best.

Every year Father Christmas puts an ornament in the sticking. And our tree is now full of individual it's I love it. But with the help of TK Maxx father Christmas has outdone himself this year.

DS has been asking for a Christmas dinosaur every year since he could talk ...

Kitschy mismatched trees all the way!

I ditched tasteful a few years ago. Mine is an explosion of tacky with the best stuff from charity shops. I am amassing quite the collection of coloured lights.

This is our dinosaur bauble, new last year from Sass & Belle. DD aged 3 was absolutely delighted with it .

The funny thing is, my actual tree is very tastful, and I wouldn't allow any of them on there.

I think I may need to have a space in my house for hideous ornaments becuase they are making me laugh and I'm really enjoying this thread!

Why are there suddenly so many dinosaur ornaments? Were the dinosaurs known for their love of Christmas?

We got a blue dinosaur from John Lewis a few years ago. But if there are dalek baubles I may need a tardis bauble goes down google black hole.

You need a second tree.

We have a fairly cheap flat backed six foot tree in our kitchen diner which is stacked with kitschy tat, decorations the kids have made, offensively bright coloured lights etc. this is known as Tacky Tree.

Then in the living room we have the Balsam Hill with the warm white lights and the naice embroidered decorations. Known as Classy Tree.

Hideous, isn't it?

Funny thing is, I was offered £107 for it when I took it into Duke's auctioneers on the off chance.
I've almost never seen anything more hideous.
It's going on top of the tree instead of the vanilla fairy...

Before children, I had beautiful glass baubles.

After having children I bought a load of really cheap felt decorations (penguins, reindeer, Father Christmases, robins etc) and the kids pick their own bauble to add every year. The idea is that eventually the cheap felt decorations are phased out for a tree full of the kids’ choices.

We make a day of picking the tree, picking the baubles and having a fancy hot chocolate etc. The tree exhibits their childhoods in a strange way; all the different little phases and obsessions they go through.

Looking at the tree makes me really smile and feel all warm and fuzzy and nostalgic, as it should. I look forward to this year’s picks.

Oneearringlost oh now I know the back story I love her. Pride of place on top of the tree definitely.
Just maybe cover her up at night....
