Secret Santa - got the boss

Suggestions, please!

Secret Santa has been drawn at work today, and I've got the boss.

Elegant and sophisticated lady in her 50s, don't know much about her, definitely not a novelty/joke gift, budget £10.

I'm already stressed about it! 🤦‍♀️

Vote for the Radley tote here, nice idea

Welcometothejingles · 24/11/2021 04:21

If she's a tea drinker than an M&S light up house tea tin is only £4. It leaves money in the budget for something else like chocolate or a plant.

Egghead68 · 24/11/2021 04:26

House plant

BarbaraofSeville · 24/11/2021 06:43

A really nice reusable shopping bag, one that you'd use for clothes, not groceries? Is that what those Radley ones are?

I disagree with the poster who says you can't get anything drinkable for £10. What about a nice bottle of sparkling wine if she drinks alcohol? A cremant of some sort, all the supermarkets have offers on at this time of year.

I wish someone would describe me as 'elegant and sophisticated lady in her 50s' Grin

@justasking111

We bought a retiring teacher who was always a bit scary a vibrator from the pound shop. She could stop laughing
Jesus.

Liz Earle! They do a small gift pouch of hot cloth cleanse. Travel size! It’s always my go to secret Santa gift. They love it!

Here you go :)

Lisa Angel has some lovely things - I particularly liked the travel jewellery cases which were under £10 and am going to buy one for my late 60s professional mother who often travels on business.

Sciurus83 · 24/11/2021 08:07

Ohh I would like Liz Earle from these, or White company travel candle bauble

Couchbettato · 24/11/2021 08:07

A pretty tea for one set with the teacup at the bottom and the teapot on top. Perhaps a nice whittards tea bag set as well.

NaturalBlondeYeahRight · 24/11/2021 08:28

Got the boss one year, I got her a silver sixpence from eBay with her year of birth on (depends if you know) She was thrilled

reluctantbrit · 24/11/2021 08:30

I would go for consumables, nice chocolates. She can re-gift if she doesn't eat them.

I fiind most of the things mentioned to personal unless you know she uses a particular brand for cream.

Never give scarves - my nightmare gift.

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 24/11/2021 08:31

It's secret.
It doesn't matter.
Get rid of something that you were given and never used or liked, that is stuck away in a cupboard somewhere.

(You may be able to guess that I'm not a great fan of Secret Santa!)

MrsFoxyplease · 24/11/2021 08:32

Pecksniffs candle from TK Maxx.
A great gift.

scarf?
notebook?

actiongirl1978 · 24/11/2021 08:49

Last year I got my secret santa a gorgeous floral painted water bottle in reduced from paperchase, and a packet of seeds that matched the flowers, plus a bar of Tony chocolonely. Came to just over £10

stillcrazyafterall · 24/11/2021 08:55

I had this one year, bought her a head girl badge. Amongst other bits, she loved it!

HerbivorousRex · 24/11/2021 09:09

I’d go for a little box of chococo festive chocolates (they’re £12 so it depends how strict the budget is) or a Christmassy plant (a poinsettia in a pretty pot would be ideal).

If you know she likes tea/coffee then you could get something special (Fortnum and Mason have some festive tins for £10-12)

CeeceeBloomingdale · 24/11/2021 09:28

I’d go to TK Maxx and choose a nice candle. I don’t drink so wouldn’t want alcohol, scarves I quite like but not within a £10 budget and I think Radley is a bit naff personally.

Jumpingintochristmas · 24/11/2021 11:43

I know I suggested a tote bag but I was thinking Not on the High Street etc. I think Radley is quite dated now, sorry.

Hetyanni · 24/11/2021 13:33

Either a 2022 diary or notebook from Waterstones. They have some beautiful ones for a tenner.

reluctantbrit · 24/11/2021 13:42

Candles would go straight into the bin here. So far all scented candles just caused painful headaches here.

Some great ideas on here !
Last year I got given L'Occitane by someone who didn't know me at all which I was really pleased with - safe choice .
I like these too -other slogans available-
