12 yo DD very into Greek mythology and recently discovering Norse as well - any ideas on what to get her that talks to this interest?

I know it’s a bit niche!

Neil Gaiman also wrote a lovely story called Odd and the Frost Giants, not sure if it's a spin on an original Norse myth. But if you get it you must get the illustrated version by Chris Riddell it is beautiful.

The Roman mystery books are fabulous as well! DD and DS read these from 10-14. We had to buy the last one for the 17 year old so they could just find out the ending haha

If she likes graphic novels the Iliad and Odyssey by Gareth Hinds are good. Looks like he's done Beowulf too.

The British museum shop has some good ancient Greek gifts too.

Wow I thought this would be a niche interest but it’s clearly not!

Thank you all for the suggestions.

I should say she’s a very advanced reader so perhaps some of the suggestions eg. The one linked to on Amazon plus the who let the gods out series might be too simple for her. But will have a look. Thank you. O

Everyone with young relatives into this should consider getting a small statue from Etsy! I know it sounds utterly mad, but you can get lovely ones and they aren't that expensive. Perfect for a bedroom.

Snoopsnoggysnog · 24/11/2021 12:26

Can you recommend one @Innocenta?

I got some from this seller:

etsy.me/3atkyMR

And was very happy with them - I just wanted low-cost, small sized interior decor, which they offer a lot of! Didn't put the link in my first post in case it came off as advertising them. I'm sure there are many other sellers too, the search term 'dark academia' might also help you find good little bits.

Agree with the Neil gaiman and Stephen fry books as being good options if she's a good reader - she may have already read them though. You can also get Greek gods/statues/pillars in candle form as they are a bit cheaper than a statue

Ooh yes, the candles are great! Very popular on Tiktok too. Also, statue-shaped planters for indoor pot plants.

If any of these Greek Mythology mad kids are in London I would love to arrange a meet-up with my 11 year old DD!

Probably too young for your DD, but I loved the little Toob mythology characters for stocking fillers:
here

Thanks again - going to look through these and order something today
