Hi all.

Hoping the collective Mumsnet hive mind may be able to help!

Looking to put together a small-ish hamper for my parents for Christmas, focusing on their new caravan. They have all the essentials, but hoping to put some bits together that they may not have though of etc.

Has anyone got any suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

Egg cups, hand vacuum cleaner, nice blanket or deck chairs? You'll know whether they could cope with the humorous "my other home is a caravan" type mugs. Oh and playing cards or travel scrabble.

You could be very practical, Toilet Blue, Caravan toilet paper, brake cleaner aerosol for degreasing the towball (all available from Halfords). Green Scotchbright for towball cleaning. Awning rail silicon spray.
Not the most romantic sounding selection, but all will be used in the course of caravanning!

Static or pull along? (I don't know the name for a pull along caravan but you know what I mean!)

A fancy spirit level do-dah for inside their van so they know when they’re level at a site.

Yes we have one of those that also shows which way round to pitch to get the sun at certain times of the day, and which way to pint your aerial. Best gadget ever! Think it’s called a PitchPal

Travel fire pit, kitchen utensils that fold flat, nice set of melamine mugs/glasses, binoculars, bird watching book, astronomy for beginners book, throw/blanket, small salt and pepper grinders, fairy lights, solar outdoor lights, small fan, cushions.

Things that I have in my caravan that I really enjoy, and makes me feel right at home wherever we pitch up:

My binoculars were bought for me as a birthday present. I love them. I like to look as the scenery/wildlife in daylight and there's so much to see in the night sky with binoculars. Campsites tend to be darker, and there are some great ones in dark sky areas, so brilliant for stargazing.

Store cupboard basics if they are likely to cook much in the caravan - you know, a spice selection, oils, vinegars etc. Nice tea and coffee? And other kitcheny bits…..

Some nice blankets if they are going to use it when it’s cold.

We’ve just got a new camper van and that’s what I’d like for it…..

RockingMyFiftiesNot · 21/11/2021 23:29

Do you know what they have in the caravan already? Or are you able to sneak a peak?

I don't have a caravan but some things which spring to mind:

Some decorative things like tea light holders and LCD tea- lights.
Dried or tasteful artificial flower arrangements.

A biscuit barrel .

Tea and coffee containers

Do they have a barbecue? Tools and skewers if they do; plus a disposable barbecue if they don't.

Ist aid kit
Fire blanket
Electric heater.

Torches

Lovelydiscusfish · 21/11/2021 23:51

I also love the fairy lights in ours, and the pretty curtains. And we aren’t generally fairy-light or pretty-curtain type people, overly much. But it works in the camper van,…

Flip flops for walking to shower block?
Handy bag for carrying toiletries to shower block

A free standing rotary line lightweight camping one.

Some solar lights to pop in ground near the door for when dark

shivawn · 22/11/2021 02:02

One of the best things we bought for our campervan was a Ridgemonkey, awesome for making toasted sandwiches, pizza or the morning fry up!

actiongirl1978 · 22/11/2021 07:28

Duct tape and cable ties and some fuses.

There's nothing you can't fix in a caravan without these. I speak from 5yrs of caravanning experience Wink

NeverDropYourMoonCup · 22/11/2021 09:14

Decent kitchen knives and scissors.
