Reusable coffee cup recommendation

DS17 since starting college regularly gets himself takeout starbucks coffees to have on the train home. So I thought I’d get him a starbucks gift card and a reusable cup, can anyone recommend a good, dishwasher safe cup?

Don’t go for bamboo as think it’s supposed to contain nasty stuff that leaks toxins!

LadyCampanulaTottington · 20/11/2021 07:27

Starbucks have a great selection! Pick one up when you’re getting his card.

I've tried lots of cups and have found these to be best - good choice of sizes and colours, pretty leak-proof, and made from recycled cups circularandco.com/reusable-coffee-cups - I think you can get them on Amazon or at John Lewis.

This is the one I have circularandco.com/shop/reusables/circular-reusable-coffee-cup

KeepCup do some nice ones. I have the small glass one but there are other versions.

I love my Contigo Westloop. I have 4 in various colours, the other half has 2 & we have a few of the water bottles.
There are spill proof, there's a trigger mechanism when you drink. Newer lids have a lock so the trigger can't be pushed accidentally.
I think one of them must be on the go for over 10yrs at this stage. The only leak we ever had was a few days after it was dropped onto concrete from a fair height, got a new lid on eBay and all is good since.

They're on eBay, Amazon, occasionally in tescos & I found one in TK Maxx

Fallagain · 20/11/2021 07:52

Contigo definitely. They don’t leak. Currently on offer with Tesco clubcard Asda

DockOTheBay · 20/11/2021 07:52

Stainless steel are the way to go. Bodum, Klean Kanteen or SHO are good.
I think SHO have 50% off for good Friday.

LynetteScavo · 20/11/2021 08:01

I have one of these and it doesn't leak.

I would recommend Contigo and in fact have one on my Christmas list. My colleague has one that keeps her tea hot for hours - I made her one at 11am and it was still red hot at 4pm.

karmakameleon · 20/11/2021 08:09

I have a glass keepcup and love it. It’s nice to drink out of but it’s not leak proof so you can’t throw it in your bag.

Swearwolf · 20/11/2021 08:10

I have an aladdin one that's really good, doesn't leak and you can lock the top so it can go in your bag.

Justonemorecup81 · 20/11/2021 08:15

If you're looking for a KeepCup they are a great price here

BigGreen · 20/11/2021 10:12

One that's leak proof and you can throw in your bag!

Invisimamma · 20/11/2021 10:14

Contigo is the only one I've found that's leak proof and keeps drink warm.

eitak22 · 20/11/2021 10:47

I'd say contigo if it needs to stay warm for a while otherwise the starbucks cups used to be fairly leakproof (as are costa).

Newdad19 · 20/11/2021 10:53

I'd get him one actually from Starbucks with the Starbucks branding on it

AnneShirleysNewDress · 20/11/2021 10:55

I've got a Frank Green. It's fantastic.

PurpleDaisies · 20/11/2021 11:00

Yet another vote for contigo. I’ve had mine five years. Totally leak proof and stays hot forever.

tulips27 · 20/11/2021 11:07

Sorry if this is a stupid question but when people say leak proof, do they mean you could put it in your bag, even? Like a good flask.

PurpleDaisies · 20/11/2021 11:08

Yes. Mine goes in my handbag the same as a thermos.
tulips27 · 20/11/2021 11:08

Oops, I see this has been raised already. I think my morning coffee hasn't kicked in yet Blush

HunterHearstHelmsley · 20/11/2021 11:12

Agree with Contigo. Keeps my coffee hot and I can put it in my bag if my hands are full, safe in the knowledge it won't leak.

I bought it when I had a courtesy car with no cup holders, used to sit on the passenger seat and never once did it leak.

CiaoForDiNiaoSaur · 20/11/2021 11:17

Contigo. Completely leak proof so could be thrown in a bag. And stayed hot enough that it lasted for as long as it actually took me to finish. Which was sometimes almost an entire 16 hour shift.

We got one of these in a work gift bag. Really nice, but if you want water tight Contigo is the only one that will do. I love mine
