Xbox Series X - impossible to get

I swear I’m demented by this now. My DS wants a new Xbox as his current one is failing and old, and I said I’d get it for Xmas, before I realised the supply chain issues. He wants the X series as it takes discs unlike the Series S, and all his games are on disc, so it makes sense.

Every day for a month I’ve eagerly searched, usually multiple times a day, on various websites - Argos, John Lewis, Amazon, Currys, Game, Very, Smyths etc. I’ve registered accounts with them, I’ve added it to wish lists. Nada. Always out of stock.

It’s nigh impossible to get the X series anywhere. When they become available they sell out in seconds. I’m beginning to panic. Any tips, or advice? Anyone in the same boat? I’m beginning to wonder if I need to buy back up presents in case I can’t get it. Aargh!

I'm in the same position (except I want one for me!) and I've resigned myself to not getting one until well into the new year; I can't imagine that the stock situation is going to do anything other than intensify between now and Christmas, sadly.

Someone on here the other day who was after a PS5 was talking about a website called Stock Informer, which monitors all those retailers (and probably more) and emails you when they have stock in so you can leap on it. I've signed up on it (for Xbox Series X) although I've no idea if they're reliable or accurate or anything like that. There are probably other sites/services that do a similar thing.

Are you registered for notifications on Twitter accounts and the hot stock app?

I’ve basically given up - DS1 wanted one before they came out, initially flurry of release, they were out of stock in seconds from then on.
Was sure it would calm down after last Christmas but didn’t. The chips are in short supply or something.
So not enough are making it to market to meet demand, even a year on.

He wants the X as well, not the S.

We managed to get a PS5 in the end second hand as some local guy decided he was moving to PC gaming having just bought himself a PS5, lucky for us.

I’m hoping by his birthday in May it really has calmed down!
What’s sadder is he’s actually saved up for it from his paper round but just can’t buy one.

This happened last Christmas too. I would try and prepare your ds for the possibility you won't be able to get it. I registered on every list possible and still didn't get one.

I had the same issue last year. I signed up to stock informer, they also had a forum that discussed at what time stock was going to be released. I managed to get one at 4am when Argos updated their website. It was really stressful though and took a lot of persistence and research

Thanks for the advice on Stock Informer and hot stock, going to sign up for notifications and keep everything crossed. My hopes are not high though.

We got one last year via stock informer so that's definitely worth a try. You need to act really quick when you get a notification though.

I got one 2 weeks ago on Stock Informer. In fact I kept the app and could have got 3 or 4 over the last couple of weeks as they kept coming into stock.

Just realised that sounded a bit smug, it wasn’t meant to be. I just meant that they definitely are available, it’s just catching them right. I was really surprised how quickly I managed to get 1 with the app.
