Please say I'm not the only one!

Can you share details for the personalised coke cans please?

FlickerBeat · 17/11/2021 14:14

@imnotacelebritygetmeoutofhere

Me! I deliberately don't shop for Christmas until it's nearer Christmas! I like to feel Christmassy when I choose gifts, and we don't go over the top in my family so if it's not available we just don't have it. I do it all over a weekend in December.
Same here.

I find it really odd when people have already bought and wrapped everything by November. I think i'd feel less christmassy in December if I didn't have a single present to buy or wrap.

So yes, i've bought nothing yet 🤣

Mamiamamia · 17/11/2021 14:16

Yep, I have all my Xmas shopping complete by the end of September. This is specifically because I run an online toyshop and Oct-Dec just becomes insanely busy with orders, so if I don’t have it done in September it won’t get done!

Moonface123 · 17/11/2021 14:37

No, it doesnt take me long to do mine, normally order from Amazon, Ebay and Etsy, etc, a couple of weeks before, when l am feeling more festive, may also go to retail centre.
Same with xmas food shop, l do mine Xmas eve, store near me is very calm then, especially in afternoon, l have never not been able to get what l want, just pick up a few nice things for xmas day for my two teenagers and myself, they eat anything so very easy then l am back there on boxing day buying fresh again for when family come up later.
l dont sweat it, if for whatever reason l cant get what l want l just buy an alternative.

millerpie · 17/11/2021 14:47

Not really, one present for the dog because it was on sale and gig tickets for DH because I was worried they’d sell out. The rest can wait until December when I feel a bit more festive.

yikesanotherbooboo · 17/11/2021 14:48

Me
I usually wait until December.

RobinPenguins · 17/11/2021 14:48

Nope; my DC’s birthday is this month so I don’t start Christmas until that’s done with.

hellcatspangle · 17/11/2021 15:08

Me. Too much shit going on in my life to be arsed about Christmas this year (sorry to be a grinch)

cushioncovers · 17/11/2021 15:31

Me, I don't bother until December.

ivfbabymomma1 · 17/11/2021 15:34

I'm done ... and wrapped GrinWink

I wish I wasn't like this... genuinely! But not being prepared for anything bloody 5 years in advance stresses me out SadEnvy

It's a curse because I end up buying more and forgetting about stuff I bought in august?!

Itsnotdeep · 17/11/2021 15:42

I've just started writing lists! Nothing bought yet apart from Christmas Pyjamas (personalised - I'm just so tasteful) and some baubles as last year I left it too late and couldn't get either. (I ordered these on Monday).

Will need to sort advent calendars this week too. And then on with the lists. I have no clue what I'm getting although dd4 has now written to FC.

lazylinguist · 17/11/2021 15:43

Why not start now? Procrastination just means you'll end up spending more and having fewer choices.

I never start until at least mid-November. I've never noticed a lack of choices!

irregularegular · 17/11/2021 15:52

Me. And it's not procrastination. I've made it policy in recent years, once I realised it was possible. I find if I start too far ahead I just overthink it - spend more timing browsing, second-guessing myself and changing my mind (and sometimes purchases), without any obvious gain in how much people actually enjoy their presents.

I don't actually buy that many gifts anyway compared to some people. I dedicate one full day to shopping in person. Maybe a couple of half-days of online shopping. That's plenty. When the children were really small I would start earlier as I found it hard to carve out those chunks of time at the last minute (I've always worked full time too). But now I can, I do.

I like Christmas shopping up to a point, but the more time I spend on it the more dull and annoying it gets!

poorbuthappy · 17/11/2021 15:55

I haven't actually started yet.
But I spend as long on the list and prep aspect as I do on the actual buying.
We have 3 birthdays at the beg in december so I have to divvy up the present lists to accommodate 2 sets of grandparents and 3 sets of aunties/uncles twice over.
Lists are coming along nicely!

MrsJBaptiste · 17/11/2021 15:58

Not started here yet - I have no idea what anyone wants!

Kids haven't told me and family are as bad (although I haven't got any ideas for me yet either so I can't moan!)

Will start at the weekend... 🎁

puffaluff · 17/11/2021 19:20

I've barely started. No idea what anyone wants yet apart from dd, who changes her mind and adds things she wants right up until December, would have thought that's fairly typical for young kids.

Lilolily · 17/11/2021 19:22

All my Christmas shopping comes from my December paycheque and bonus if I get one, so I can never start before December 17th. It sucks.

SwedishEdith · 17/11/2021 19:24

I don't even consider it late to start yet. Kids aren't small so don't need toys and me and partner cba buying each other much as don't need anything and have autumn birthdays.

Chrispackhamspoodle · 17/11/2021 19:25

Not started. When I buy early the children change their minds.Looking forward to going out shopping when it's Christmassy.

ForTheLoveOfSleep · 17/11/2021 19:27

Me! Next week Mum, me and my sisters hit the high Sstreet en masse though 🤣

BloodyAlarms · 17/11/2021 19:32

I've done the thinking part so know what I'm going to get for everyone.. I just haven't bought anything yet.

I prefer to buy nearer to Christmas because when I decide its not enough - it's too late to buy more.

CurryLover55 · 17/11/2021 19:35

I’m not half as organised as usual - it’s sneaking up on me this year! I’ve bought a few bits but need to get stuck in.

Parker231 · 17/11/2021 19:37

DH and I are doing it this weekend. As usual everything is done online with us splitting the list between us to save time. Can usually get everything - presents, food and drinks ordered within a couple of hours.

Exhausteddog · 17/11/2021 19:37

Not me.
And I don't feel panicked by it.
In fact I lie. I've bought 2 small things and I'm feeling proud of my self that I'm more organised this year!Grin
