What goes in a stocking?

I’ve never made one up before.

This year I’ve halved my budget as the children have had extra bought for them during lockdowns and our house is fit to burst. I thought I’d do stockings this year as they seem fun but not an excessive waste of money if you do them ‘properly’

Any suggestions?

2.5 year old girl.

The 2 little ones are diagnosed autistic, youngest has Pica so nothing small she could choke on 😬

Thank you!

My teens are getting:
Miniature bottles of toffee vodka, test tube shots, grey goose
Chocolate coins
chocolate sprouts
Pants/boxers
Dd - fluffy socks
Shower gel, deodorant, shaving balm etc that they like/use - I used to "up the brand" then always found them languishing in a drawer so just get them what they like nowadays!
Sweets
Pack of cards/small game thing they will use (has been extender packs for CAH in the past)
Treat food things I don't normally buy due to cost
Chewy vitamins for adults as they love them but I can't afford to buy normally and it's at least something healthy over Xmas!
Vouchers for Costa/Wetherspoons/greggs (ASDA too for dd as away at uni)
Small candles/diffusers in their favourite scents
DD likes tisserand roller ball essential oils for helping her at uni
Stationery - zebra highlighters, post it's etc for uni

I'm trying to avoid the excessive amounts of tat and Christmas gift things that just hang about for months before going to the charity shop.

One stocking filler ds still loves and uses is a wallet ninja! Bought him it a few years ago thanks to these threads and he wasn't sure at first but says it's been so useful.

For us the standard items are novelty sponge, bubble bath (was always matey when I was a kid), toothbrush, satsuma, choc coins, tube of smarties. And then a few other novelty or curious items, my son got a little hand held telescope in a wooden box one year (pirate style) which he still loves, this year it's a bag of special planet marbles, plus some other bits of stuff / toys similar to what others have mentioned.

I'm looking for a bargain beanbag for DD17, it needs to be a good size.. I didn't realise these were so expensive!

A magic facecloth, one of the one which comes compressed and expands once it is in water.

I first got DD one when she was 3 and it was her favourite gift that year. She still gets one every year even though she is at uni now.

You can get them from Poundland so not expensive.

The big tubes of sweets or a toblerone are good for bulk.
