Microscope

I’m going around and around in circles researching microscopes for my 9 year old. I can’t decide between one with a decent magnification and kit for making slides, or if a lower magnification stereo microscope might get more use as he could just look at dead flies and whatnot. Has anyone got any recommendations?

I would definitely recommend getting a low power microscope rather then the higher power ones that are just for slides. The low power is usually something like x5 to x60 and it’s perfect for looking at insects, plants, computer stuff. It’s also really useful for digging out splinters in fingers and for reading really tiny text!

USB microscopes are really good fun as well (although I appreciate your might want a non-screen option).

Does your Dd have access to an iPad? We got DS an Easi Scope which has worked well - he particularly enjoys being able to take photos of what he's looking at.

Oo I like the look of the Easi scope. I was hoping for a non screen option but actually in some ways it’s good to have options in which to use the iPad in a more productive way!
