No room for a tree

We don't have room for a tree in the living room (we put the tree up in the kitchen/dining room) but we would like to decorate the living room and make it look and feel Christmassy. We don't have a fire place so no place for a garland either.
Any ideas on how we can decorate/what we can put up to give the room some Christmas cheer!!

My little living room is small, and no room for a tree really, but i have some some house plants around, so use one, with spready branch like leaves, to hang some some little sparkly things on it. I dont put too many dangly things around, as have three cats, who sometimes paw at dangly things, the same reason that I dont have candles, in my fireplace, or anywhere, as they walk past things, with swishy tails, and could get singed tails. I might put some tinsel and bits of ivy on the wall over the fireplace.

There are loads of authentic looking wax candles in all sizes that are really battery operated. Ditto tea-lights, I have some that flicker and some that just give a nice steady "flame" that I use in lanterns and pretty glass holders.

I've been looking on Dunelm's website as they have some lovely lights!! They've also got some large baubles which I thought would look good hanging on the wall. Seems like you don't need a tree to feel Christmassy
