Anyone got VR oculus quest? Are they any good and any recommendations for games?

Love mine! I play lots of VR fitness games and my children / grandchildren play strategy / story games. It’s so worth it! Even my mum - late 70s - enjoys it.

TinaYouFatLard · 10/11/2021 22:26

My boys (13 and 10) love it. DS1 spends way too much time in our hall (emptiest space) waving his arms around like a loon - goodness knows what he’s doing but he’s happy.

I love the shark dive and the roller coaster one.

Queuing4Fergs · 10/11/2021 22:33

My boys love Job Simulator, Rec Room and Beat Sabre. Going to get a second one for DS' birthday so they can join each other in a virtual world and play together

It’s fantastic. I go on roller coasters and up Everest and stuff from my living room Smile

Doughnuts68 · 10/11/2021 23:20

Thankyou everybody, I shall take a look at some of the games.

Is there any add-one etc that anyone recommends and would 128gb be enough?

128gb is more than enough for the types of games that are currently available. Game-wise, it depends on what you'd want.
Beat Saber is probably the most widely enjoyed though.

Tal45 · 11/11/2021 16:34

We have it but don't use it nearly as much as I thought, it just always seems to need charging, I find it really heavy to wear and there is no comparison between going to Machu Picchu on there and going for real, it just doesn't do it for me as a keen traveller in the way I hoped it would.

The intro games are cute and fun, Beat sabre is good although we really liked the demo and shouldn't have bothered paying for the whole game. Keep talking and nobody explodes is definitely the most played game so far, that is a really good puzzle game that we can all be involved in at the same time. Just reminded me of another issue - generally only one person can 'play' at a time, you can chrome cast it and watch but it's still boring sat not doing anything.

CovidCorvid · 11/11/2021 16:38

I love Beat Sabre. That's the only game I play. The I go on the VR youtube type videos and also have an explore the world type one where I can go in art galleries in Paris and then up Ayres Rock.

Pavlova31 · 11/11/2021 16:46

Is this the console that you can only use if you have Facebook?

Jaxhog · 11/11/2021 16:49

Absolutely love mine! 128gb is plenty.

I like beat sabre too, although visiting the (free) International Space Station blows my mind! Table Tennis is pretty good too.

If you like painting, the 3D painting program TiltBrush is amazing.

LivingLaVidaBabyShower · 11/11/2021 16:52

Its amazing
I love beat sabre and the escape room type games
There is a game with a mouse called Moss (you are the mouse and wander about)

Doughnuts68 · 11/11/2021 17:03

Thanks all. Would a 10 year old enjoy it?

OP posts:
LivingLaVidaBabyShower · 11/11/2021 17:15

100% yes and he friends will all likely want to come round and have a go

itsasmallworldafterall · 11/11/2021 17:19

There is a lot of games within rec room, and as people can create them, they are always changing. It comes with it, you don't need to buy it. Some of the games have free demos to download to try out, and you can get a refund on any games if you change your mind- I think you have 24 hours to decide. If you are buying for someone who has a PC you can also side load games from steam. Basically you don't need to rush jnto buying lots of games at the start.

Jaxhog · 11/11/2021 17:20

My (just) 10 year old Great Nephew loves his headset. I take mine with me when I visit him and we compare games!

Doughnuts68 · 12/11/2021 14:00

Thankyou all

Glad someone's posted about this! My 12 year old is desperate for one of these for Christmas, I've made it clear that as it's so expensive this will be his only present. Is there enough free content on it to make it fun or do you need to buy the games?
I'm hoping it's enough to be worth having no other gifts and also wait until his birthday in March to get more games for? Don't want to buy it and then need to spend more money straight away to properly play it

trumpisagit · 12/11/2021 16:44

I think you need to buy the games, although the free content would keep you busy on Xmas day. The games are downloads so he could spend his Xmas money on them?
We like Beat Sabre and my 12 year old likes job simulator (which is ironic as I can't him to do anything at home).

IncompleteSenten · 12/11/2021 16:53

My son bought an oculus something and none of us can use it for more than a few minutes because we each get the feeling of travel sickness/seasickness and it's really unpleasant. I'd suggest seeing if he could try one out in store if they do that. It's a lot of money to spend on something you can't enjoy because you feel like you're going to hurl
