Looking for somewhere to book for me and 13yo foodie DS. We went to One Aldwych this summer and had the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory themed afternoon tea which he really loved. So looking for something similar-ish please (not Alice in Wonderland though).

I am sooooo tempted by the science afternoon tea at the Ampersand. He would love the theme. I’m wondering if we could possibly do both! I was thinking of saving the Ampersand one for the new year (January birthday) but the theme is only running until the end of December.

We had the Ampersand science tea in the summer. It was really fun and also delicious. We’ve booked at Pan Pacific for the Singaporean themed Kopitiam by Cherish Finden for Christmas, (also a cheeky NYE stay at the hotel which I’m v.excited about!) it looks fabulous.

Fortnum and Mason is fab in my opinion. Enjoy!

I’m so surprised at the positive reviews for Fortnum! Maybe I went on a bad day..??
It wasn’t around Christmas but the place had no atmosphere, the sandwiches and cakes were a bit blah and it was just a bit of an empty experience. I might have to try it again!

I would agree with you on the service at F&M - it just didn't feel as attentive or polished / luxurious compared to similar venues.
