Christmas... I know it's far too early, but..

... I've put my tree up! It was delivered today and I just thought I'd see what it's like, but decided, what the hell, I'm keeping it up. I usually put my tree up on 1st December, but it cheered me up so much that I'm keeping it up! We all need something to make us smile, and this makes me smile. Picture attached if anyone is interested. I doubt anyone else is as premature as me, but if you are, please share your tree pics x

xxxGirlCrushxxx · 08/11/2021 19:33

its lovely and i love your colour scheme

RacketeerRalph · 08/11/2021 19:49

I'd be sick of the sight of it by December, let alone Christmas

brambleon · 08/11/2021 19:50

It’s gorgeous! Making me want to put mine up

Sn0tnose · 08/11/2021 19:57

It is absolutely beautiful!

We’re going to buy a tiny tree this year because we’re away for most of December (Ours is massive and takes all day to assemble and decorate) and I have massive tree envy right now.

Bluntness100 · 08/11/2021 20:06

I think that’s the same as ours op. I sit ours in this, it works really well as my decorations are gold and red. You need something to cover the stand.

I also feel it’s a bit odd to put it up at the beginning of November pretty much two full months before Xmas, I think it ruins the build up to Xmas, as it just becomes your normal furnishings ag some point. I will put ours up early December. But if you can take looking at it for that long, then enjoy.

CrazyBaubles · 08/11/2021 21:02

Good for you OP. I haven't got anything up yet but last year my dad bought me a light up ceramic tree in October.
I set it up in the spare room I use as an office and started switching it on in November. Yes it was early but it cheered me up every day so who cares!

The tree is beautiful by the way Xmas Smile

Glugglejug · 08/11/2021 21:11

I mean, there are 12 days of Christmas and not a single one of them is in November. If you must put your tree up in early November then you have to promise not to be one of those awful bastards who takes it down on Boxing Day. They should be in prison.

UndertheCedartree · 08/11/2021 21:13

It looks beautiful! If it brings you joy then why the hell not keep it up!!

I can't wait til the 1st December as I put some decs up when my DC go to bed the night before and in the morning I do them a special Christmas breakfast with their advent calendars at their place. I got heavily criticised about that on here a few years ago. But it is our tradition and we love it!

UndertheCedartree · 08/11/2021 21:18

@TurnUpTurnip - it could be because Christmas has been in the shops so early this year (obviously in case of lockdown) so people have got in the Christmas Spirit extra early! 🌲☃️🧑‍🎄

When we were out Saturday we drove past a house which fully had all its Christmas lights up, Inc flashing crimbo lights in thr window, which must be migraine inducing if you’re inside and not very pleasant for the neighbours who have to shut their curtains not to see them flashing. Just looked a bit odd but I guess they liked it.

SirenSays · 08/11/2021 21:30

It looks lovely 🎄 we have to put our little tree on a cabinet otherwise my Foster pets will try to wreck it.
I would wish for celebrations to go the other way. Instead of Christmas coming forward I'd love Halloween to last longer and push Christmas and new years back through December into dark horrible January.

Crumblinginside · 08/11/2021 21:36

It's very pretty but for me December is early enough (I'd be fed up of it and it would take the magic away as it's so familiar If that makes sense)

dream75 · 08/11/2021 22:00

It looks beautiful. Mine is going up next weekend after I have finished the wallpapering.

Doghairismyglitter · 08/11/2021 22:21

Thought I’d put these here for you OP Grin
10 days till I put mine up & I can’t wait! Absolutely love it when the tree goes up and it genuinely makes me really bummed out and low when it comes down!

There’s so much doom and gloom; I say if something brings you a sprinkle of happiness and it’s not hurting or affecting anyone then embrace it 🥳

We had a lot of houses on our estate that looked like they had Christmas lights up early, but they were for Diwali.

That said, I have seen Christmas decorations up before bonfire night. Way too early for me.

LowlyTheWorm · 09/11/2021 08:59

People generally are getting worse at delayed gratification and we are very much an instant society where people are losing the art of anticipation and waiting for things they enjoy. The magic of Christmas is in the anticipation for me, hence the whole “advent” period.
I love Christmas as much as anyone else, but the magic is diluted IMO when it’s rushed and given into so early.
It IS a lovely tree though. 🎄

Hetyanni · 09/11/2021 10:17

It looks gorgeous!! Trying to hold off until December but pretty sure I will fold too!!

DietCokeChipsAndMayo · 09/11/2021 10:19

It is a gorgeous tree!

…is there a pair of knickers on top of it in the second picture??? 🤔

That is absolutely gorgeous, but alas is currently unavailable. I think it will look better once I have presents underneath x

Looks lovely and I wouldn't say it's too early. It's never too early to get a Christmas spirit!

TerribleCustomerCervix · 09/11/2021 10:54

I used to be very sneery about people putting Christmas decorations up early.

But then last year I cracked and put them up at the end of November. And it was GREAT. Six weeks of twinkly warm white lights, no need to use the Big Light in the living room as the tree was as bright as a flood light at Old Trafford.

I am a judge person at heart though, so I reserve that for people who take their trees down on Boxing Day.

So fuck it, enjoy your new purchase and your cosy living room for the next two months!

HollyandIvyandAllThingsYule · 09/11/2021 11:35

Ahaha I saw that thing on the tree and was trying to figure out what on earth it was, but I didn’t look too closely...

Maybe not the best accent that lovely tree!
