Smart watch for 5 year old

I'm tempted to get a smart or digital watch for my 5 year old for Christmas. Does anyone have any recommendations or reasons against?

I don't need all singing all dancing. He just likes numbers and so I think he'd appreciate being able to tell the time and check how many steps he's done. I'd like it to be not too chunky so he can sleep in it, and appealing with a character or something. Garmin Junior seems to fit the bill, and I like that it has a battery that lasts a year rather than needs recharging, so it won't get forgotten about, but it's a lot for something that might be too old for him.

Has anyone got one for a 5 year old and was it worth it? Or will he lose interest very quickly? If so I may just get a more simple and cheaper digital watch and I'd appreciate recommendations.

My ds has had his fitbit for a few years. It is a children’s one. His interest in it comes and goes. Currently he is loving tracking his steps.

I got the vtech one and was surprised at the quality and functionality. IMO perfect for that age group

I agree vtech one.
My child loves it and could use it straightaway.
I think it's pretty cool too!
The pedometer isn't exactly accurate on it but it does say about the information. My child is happy with it
